Inauguration of Bay Terminal in Chittagong
In 2024, the new door of the economy will be opened

To increase the capacity of the sea port, the construction of Chittagong Bay Terminal has started on about two and a half thousand acres of land. The terminal, which will have four times the capacity of the current port, will be officially operational in 2024. 94% of the country's imports and exports go through Chittagong port. Again, 98 percent of the main export trade is through this port.

At present, large ships with a maximum draft of 9.5 meters and a capacity of 2,000 TEUs can enter the port. The bay-terminal will be able to accommodate ships with a draft of 12 meters and a capacity of 5,000 TEUs and a container handling capacity of 500,000 TEUs. At Chittagong Port, ships operate during the day only depending on the tides. The Bay-Terminal will operate 24 hours a day.
