Oxygen Therapy – Indications:

1. Acute respiratory failure (SpO₂ < 94%).
2. Central cyanosis (bluish discoloration of lips/tongue).
3. Fast breathing.
4. Severe chest indrawing.
5. Grunting respiration (especially in infants).
6. Shock (any cause—septic, hypovolemic, cardiogenic).
7. Nasal flaring (sign of respiratory distress).
8. Severe anemia (↓ O₂ carrying capacity).
9. Cardiac failure.
10. During cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
11. Head nodding (sign of severe respiratory distress in children).
12. Cyanide poisoning.
13. During anesthesia and post-operative period.
14. Hypermetabolic states (e.g. trauma, burns, sepsis).
