Why do you worry about dengue? You don’t have to, provided you maintain the following precautions:
1. Use mosquito nets and insecticide sprays at home and workplace.
2. Wear long-sleeves and long pants to cover yourself.
3. Try to dry all your wet and soggy clothes and shoes as soon as possible.
4. Make sure windows and doors screens are closed to prevent mosquitoes from entering your home and work place.
5. Don’t allow standing or stagnant water to accumulate in any part of the house because this is where mosquitoes lay eggs and multiply.
6. The mosquito mostly resides in the private and public places. Not much in open spaces. So, keep your home and surrounding areas clean and tidy at all times.
7. Keep a cover over all your waste bins, especially that of the kitchen and bathrooms.
8. Dengue is not a contagious disease, but may be communicable when bitten by the same mosquito. So, protect yourself by keeping a mosquito-free environment near the ill person.
9. Every fever is NOT Dengue, so don’t panic. Even if you have fever, drink plenty of water. That is what is needed urgently.
10. If you really feel unwell, contact your physician and have your blood tested.
