Today marks the conclusion of an important chapter in evidence-based health planning and decision-making in Bangladesh as icddr,b wraps up the successful “Research for Decision Makers (RDM) Activity,” funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Initiated in May 2017, RDM has been a cornerstone in strengthening Bangladesh's health system. It has produced a variety of knowledge products, including policy briefs, technical reports, and national surveys, that have been instrumental in shaping health planning and decision-making across various sectors such as maternal and child health, nutrition, and tuberculosis.
The initiative's contributions are numerous. It has been involved in the ex*****on of five national-level surveys, including the first Bangladesh Adolescent Health and Wellbeing Survey 2019-20. RDM has also conducted 18 implementation research projects that have led to actionable insights in areas like adolescent health, nutrition, and family planning.

আজ আইসিডিডিআর,বি বাংলাদেশে প্রমাণ-ভিত্তিক স্বাস্থ্য পরিকল্পনা এবং সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণের একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ উদ্যোগ ‘রিসার্চ ফর ডিসিশন মেকার্স (আরডিএম) অ্যাকটিভিটি’র’ সফল সমাপ্তি উদযাপন উপলক্ষে একটি অনুষ্ঠানের আয়োজন করে ঢাকার ইন্টারকন্টিনেন্টাল হোটেলে। প্রকল্পটিতে অর্থায়ন করেছে ইউনাইটেড স্টেটস এজেন্সি ফর ইন্টারন্যাশনাল ডেভেলপমেন্ট (ইউএসএআইডি)।
২০১৭ সালের মে মাসে শুরু হওয়া আইসিডিডিআর,বি-র আরডিএম উদ্যোগ, বাংলাদেশের স্বাস্থ্য ব্যবস্থাকে শক্তিশালী করার ক্ষেত্রে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেছে। বিগত ছয় বছরে আরডিএম প্রকল্পটির মাধ্যমে মাতৃ, নবজাতক এবং শিশু স্বাস্থ্য, পরিবার পরিকল্পনা এবং প্রজনন স্বাস্থ্য, পুষ্টি এবং যক্ষ্মা রোগের মতো বিভিন্ন ক্ষেত্রে স্বাস্থ্য পরিকল্পনা এবং সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণে সহায়ক ভূমিকা পালন করার জন্য পলিসি ব্রিফ, কৌশলপত্র, এবং জাতীয় পর্যায়ের সমীক্ষা- সহ বিভিন্ন প্রমাণ-ভিত্তিক নলেজ প্রোডাক্ট তৈরি করা হয়েছে। এই প্রকল্পের অনেক গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদানের মধ্যে প্রথম বাংলাদেশ কিশোর স্বাস্থ্য ও সুস্থতা জরিপ ২০১৯-২০, বাংলাদেশ জনমিতি ও স্বাস্থ্য জরিপ, বাংলাদেশ স্বাস্থ্য ফ্যাসিলিটি জরিপ উল্লেখযোগ্য। এছাড়াও আরডিএম ১৮টি পর্যবেক্ষণমূলক গবেষণা প্রকল্পও পরিচালনা করেছে যা কৈশোরকালীন স্বাস্থ্য, পুষ্টি এবং পরিবার পরিকল্পনার মতো বিষয়ে কার্যকর পরিকল্পনা তৈরিতে সহায়তা করেছে।
