Dr. Soron started his professional career as Assistant Professor & Head of Department of Psychiatry of a reputed Medical college in Dhaka after the completion of his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Psychiatry from Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in 2016. In the same year, he received the very prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship to study MSc in Global eHealth from the famous Univers
ity of Edinburgh (UK). Afterwards he established “Telepsychiatry Research and Innovation Network Ltd” to ensure access to mental health for using technology and the organization is establishing itself as the leading organization in the region for cutting edge research on technology-based mental health care and developing low-cost digital mental health solutions. Dr. Soron is playing multiple key roles as an empathetic psychiatrist to provide best quality mental health service, as a digital health expert to bring his knowledge and expertise in telepsychiatry for designing, designing and developing innovative telepsychiatry solutions, as researcher he is leading multiple national and international researches and other key activities focus in different policy guideline development. Aa a consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Soron believe serving limited number of people with smile in a non- judgmental way. His academic learning and professional training from home and abroad helps to deliver the evidence based quality care. The innovations of Dr. Soron are transforming the mental health scenario in Bangladesh by ensuring access to mental health, preventive mental health initiatives and data management. This innovation received the Commonwealth Digital Health Award and became the life line of mental health care during COVID-19.
“Monershastho”monershastho.net- the first mental health mobile application and website to provide evidence based mental health and well-being practice sessions, information that everyone can access and practices to promote their mental health and stay healthy. In his research career Dr. Soron published over 50 scientific articles in peer reviewed journals, working as reviewer for different journals and also working as an Editor for very prestigious JMIR publisher. His key research area of interest is exploring mobile and SNSs based mental health care, health care policies and digital health ethics, Facebook and Suicide, Autism etc. He has been an invited speaker in different countries and different platforms. In his professional careers, he dedicated his significant amount of time as Research and Innovation consultant in Neuro-Developmental Disability Protection Trust of Government of Bangladesh to help in developing different policy and Laws, designing innovative health care package such as Caregivers Skill Training program for parents of children with NDDS and developing digital solution for them. He has the experience in leading the largest mobile phone based call center on Mental health “MindTale” from the inception in 2016. Dr. Soron is working as an expert of Digital Health for World Health Organization (WHO) and member of College of Experts to support the Global Effort on COVID-19 (GECO) Health Research. Dr. Soron received multiple international awards and recognition starting from the Commonwealth Scholarship, International Scholars Award from The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) and Fellowship from World Psychiatric Association and World Association of Social Psychiatry. He received professional training from USA, UK and South Korea.
