Dr Sharifa Zahan Mitu is the pioneer among female Bangladeshi Ophthalmologists to complete a long term fellowship in Cataract surgery and Glaucoma from home and abroad. She accomplished MCPS Degree from College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2013 and completed her post graduation (MS, Ophthalmology) from BIRDEM Academy under Dhaka University in 2014. Dr Sharifa Zahan Mitu is very compassionate about her field of work. She has a special interest in complex cataract cases as well as refractive cataract surgery. To achieve that goal, she did
• Three years long term fellowship in cataract surgery and comprehensive Ophthalmology from Bangladesh Eye Hospital and Institute.
• Phaco Development Program from Susrut Eye Hospital, India.
• Astigmatism management and Refractive Cataract Surgery training from Centre for Advanced Eye Care, Nevada, USA. She is also well trained in all the latest ophthalmic and surgical techniques
(Including Micro Invasive Glaucoma Surgery) in Glaucoma from home and abroad.
• Clinical observership in Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, India
• Long term fellowship in Bangladesh Eye hospital and institute
• Prestigious ICO fellowship from renowned Jules Stein Eye Hospital, UCLA, Los Angeles, USA under Prof Joseph Caprioli.
• Observership in Moorefield Eye Hospital, London, UK. She has published some original articles in different Journals and Also attended national and international conferences to present her papers. She is now working as a consultant (Phaco Surgeon and Glaucoma Specialist) in Bangladesh Eye Hospital and Institute, Dhanmondi and Bangladesh Eye Care Hoapital, Zigatola, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She also Works as a trainer of Phacoemulsification Surgery Training program and one of the Supervisor of Glaucoma Fellowship program in Bangladesh Eye Hospital and Institute.
