Randomization is the process of assigning participants to treatment and control groups, assuming that each participant has an equal chance of being assigned to any group.
Neither the researcher nor the participant chooses which treatment or intervention the participant will receive.
Using chance to assign people to groups means that the effects of the treatment or intervention that participants receive can be compared more fairly.

Research ethics 👨‍🔬

📝Research ethics focus on the moral principles that researchers must follow in their respective fields of research.

🤝Ethical decision making in academic research focuses on providing maximum benefits to the participants

🫡One of the more famous ethical guidelines followed in medical research is the Nuremberg Code. Using the Nuremberg Code shows a commitment to respect research participants

📌Relative risk vs Attributable risk🤷‍♂️

📝A relative risk represents how many times a certain factor 🦠 increases the risk of an individual 🙍🏼‍♂️ exposed thereto. In epidemiology, the term "risk" normally refers to a relative risk.

📝There is also an attributable risk that represents how much a certain factor 🦠 increases the incidence or mortality rate of a group 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦.

📚Cohort study design is preferred for measuring both RR & AR.

🟢Referencing in your article

🔹Your manuscript is much more likely to survive the rigours of the review process with minimal criticism and positive feedback if all references are contemporaneous, refer to a primary source and have been accurately and correctly cited.

🔹Every submitted academic manuscript is scrutinised several times before it is accepted for publication.

🔸So, an author has to follow the suggested type of referencing style by the journal while submitting a manuscript.

🔶Statistical test selection

Statistical tests are used in hypothesis testing. They can be used to determine whether a predictor variable has a statistically significant relationship with an outcome variable estimate the difference between two or more groups.

🔶To determine which statistical test to use, you need to know:

🔺Whether your data meets certain assumptions.
🔻The types of variables that you’re dealing with.

🟡Likert scale:

Various kinds of rating scales have been developed to measure attitudes directly (i.e., the person knows their attitude is being studied). The most widely used is the Likert scale.

In its final form, the Likert scale is a five (or seven) point scale that is used to allow an individual to express how much they agree or disagree with a particular statement.

🔶🔷Qualitative or Quantitative research??

A rule of thumb for deciding whether to use qualitative or quantitative data is:

🔸Use quantitative research if you want to confirm or test something (a theory or hypothesis)
🔹Use qualitative research if you want to understand something (concepts, thoughts, experiences)
▪️For most research topics you can choose a qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods approach.
