Human Rights Development Centre strongly condemns the brutal r**e and murder of eight-year-old Ramisa Akter in Pallabi, Dhaka. This horrific crime is not an isolated incident—it reflects the ongoing failure to protect children from sexual violence and abuse in Bangladesh.

Every child deserves safety, dignity, and justice. The increasing incidents of r**e, abuse, and violence against children are deeply alarming and demand urgent action from the government, law enforcement agencies, and society as a whole.

We demand:
• Immediate and impartial investigation into Ramisa’s r**e and murder;
• Speedy trial and exemplary punishment of the perpetrator through a fair judicial process;
• Strong protection for victims, witnesses, and their families;
• Child-sensitive investigation and support systems for survivors;
• Effective implementation of laws to prevent violence against children; and
• Nationwide awareness and prevention campaigns against r**e and gender-based violence.

Justice for Ramisa means justice for all child victims of violence in Bangladesh. Silence and impunity must end now.
