Description
Tomato Cast is a orthopedic synthetic casting tape which is made of a knitted fiberglass or polyester substrate impregnated impregnated with a water-activated polyurethane resin. The fabric used in the construction of the roll is extensible in all directions, which makes it very comfortable in use. Exposure to any moisture, including ambient humidity, will cause the tape to harden and become rigid. The setting time for this product is approximately 4 minutes and may be weight bearing 20 minutes after setting.
Features
Tomato Cast is moisture resistant, lightweight, storage, porous, X-ray translucent, durable and remove easily.
Tomato Cast has excellent mouldability, flexibility, lamination for patient comfort, easy and simple to use.
Application
1. Wear surgical gloves and care should be taken to ensure that the resin does not come into contract with unprotected skin, hair and clothing.
2. Apply an under-cast protection such as stockinet and padding over desired area.
3. Select the appropriate size of Tomato Cast and open only one roll at a time.
4. Immerse the roll in water at room temperature for 3-5 seconds and squeeze 3 to 4 times to complete pe*******on of water into the body of the roll.
5. Squeeze out excessive water.
6. Apply in the form of a spiral, each turn overlapping the previous layer by about ½ to 2/3 of the width, 3 to 4 layer are sufficient for non weight-bearing area and 5 to 7 layers for weight- bearing area and 5 to 7 layers for weight-bearing area.
7. Mould the cast, rubbing the roll to achieve good contact between layers and complete the moulding within 4 minutes after immersion.
8. Allow about 20 minutes to achieve functional strength.
Removal
• Use standard cast removal equipment and safety device.
• Take care to avoid injury to the patient.
• Be aware the blade is sharp and causes excessive heat while cutting equipment is being used.
Storage
• Care should be taken to avoid punching and damaging the pouch, which will cause the premature hardening of the product.
