Kazan State Medical University offers great attention to students’ life. The University conducts athletic programs for the students. During the vacations, the students are provided with relaxation in the camp “Medic”, which is situated in the forest on the banks of the Volga River. There is a Year-Round Recreation Program which includes football, tennis, basketball, swimming in summers, and skiing and skating in the winters.

There are 6 hostels for the students which are very near to the University. The hostels are under the protection of the police department. There are various kinds of rooms which are different in size. 2-3 students can share one room comfortably. The rooms are fully furnished and well-heated. In the hostel room, there is Internet access, a television, and a telephone for the students. Bathrooms and kitchens are provided on a sharing basis. A special area for students is there where they can socialize and meet new friends.

According to the Academic Ranking of World Universities-European Standard ARES-2014, published by the European Scientific-Industrial Chamber, Kazan state medical university ranking was a third-place among the medical universities in Russia. Kazan state medical university ranking is ranked 4489 by the Webometrics ranking of world universities and ranked 6381 in the 4icu world university ranking.

According to the Ratings, Kazan State Medical University ranking has been accredited with a rating of «BBB+» and was ranked 33rd among all Russian universities (includes medical and non-medical universities. With 200 years of experience in medical training, Kazan state medical university rank is justifiably an international University. Around 700 students from more than 57 countries around the world study here and half of the study in English. Moreover, we have a large group of students from the neighboring and remote regions of Russia. We are proud that Kazan medical school is attractive for young people from different parts of the world. STANDARDIZED PATIENT

The Center for Practical Skills - is the newest department of the Kazan State Medical University, founded in 2002. The Center for Practical Skills conducts pre-clinical training of students and organizes training for residents and interns of KSMU.The center is headed by Professor Sergey Bulatov (photo on left).

The Center is equipped with simulators, manikins and training devices especially designed for qualitative mastering of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

The «Standardized Patient» method is widely used to train senior students, where the role of patient is played by a specially trained actor. Beginning in the first year of medical school, these standardized patients teach students to perform a complete physical examination, take a medical history and effectively communicate with an extensive and diverse population. For young professionals participating in the programs of postgraduate education special seminars are conducted based on modern high-technological teaching methods: «Providing emergency medical assistance in an emergent situation» and «Endoscopic methods of examination and treatment of diseases of the gastrointestinal tract».

This educational program received an inventor’s certificate and a patent of the Russian Federation on «A method of professional training of students» in 2007.

The Center for Practical Skills in collaboration with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and University of Vermont College of Medicine conducts training for medical students, interns and residents according to the healthcare standards required for Clinical Skills in USMLE. Annual exams are held and upon successful completion, candidates are awarded with certificates, signed by the Rectors of American medical school and Kazan State Medical University.

Foreign citizens and people without citizenship have the right to get a higher education within the budget in accordance with international treaties and federal laws of the Russian Federation or the quota established by the Government of the Russian Federation for the education of foreign citizens and people without citizenship, as well as at the expense of individuals and legal entities in accordance with the agreements on the provision of paid educational services.

Preparatory pre-university department for international students

Training on subjects: Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Russian language, 10 months’ study period

The beginning of training – 1st of October 2023.

After the graduation from the preparatory pre-university department international students are issued a standard certificate. BUT such students are not exempt from entrance exams on admission to KSMU.

Students of the preparatory pre-university department are NOT provided with a dormitory.
