Recent research in Bangladesh shows high antibiotic resistance in various samples. This means common antibiotics are no longer working well, making simple infections harder to treat.

❗ Why is this dangerous?

▪️Infections last longer and can become serious
▪️Fewer medicines will work in the future
▪️More hospital visits and increased cost of care

✅ What the public should do:

▪️Do NOT take antibiotics without a doctor’s advice
▪️Finish the full course if your doctor prescribes it
▪️Don’t share or reuse old antibiotics
▪️Keep good hygiene to prevent infections
▪️Do tests when needed so the right antibiotic can be chosen

A quick reminder for visa applicants: A complete immigration medical always includes a doctor’s examination.
Except for NZ X-ray only medicals, blood tests and X-rays alone are not considered a full medical, and missing steps can jeopardise your visa.
