For the next two decades it continued as a highly successful subsidiary of Pfizer Corporation. However, by the late 1990s the focus of Pfizer had shifted from formulations to research. In accordance with this transformation, Pfizer divested its interests in many countries, including Bangladesh. In 1993 Pfizer transferred the ownership of its Bangladesh operations to local shareholders, and the name of the company was changed to Renata Limited. In a gesture of corporate charity, Pfizer donated 51% of its shares to SAJIDA Foundation. SAJIDA’s microfinance and micro-insurance programs support over 1 lac members and their families with a cumulative loan disbursement totaling to about BDT 575 Crores. SAJIDA’s health program covers over 10 lac beneficiaries by delivering services through 2 hospitals with 70 beds each, a panel doctors in SAJIDA’s micro finance branches as well as mobile health teams. For the first time in Bangladesh, a certificate workshop titled “Breathe & Grow” was organized by the Bangladesh Primary Care Respiratory Society (BPCRS) in association with the International Primary Care Respiratory Group (IPCRG). Held on December 19th, 2025, in Rangpur, the event hosted selected students from Rangpur Police Lines School & College.

Dr. SM Rowshan Alam (Chest), General Secretary of BPCRS, served as the keynote speaker and shared a strategic plan for a school respiratory health program. As asthma is a common childhood condition, many countries implement school education programs to ensure children can take precautions and manage sudden attacks. This is a highly effective measure for managing asthma on a large scale.

Renata PLC was the proud scientific partner of the event. On behalf of Renata PLC, Mr. Kamrul Hasan Rafi, Senior Product Manager, presented the primary causes of asthma, its pathology, triggering factors to avoid, and the mechanics of inhaler use. Hands-on training sessions with inhalers and peak flow meters were also conducted. This event reflects Renata PLC's social commitment and our ongoing initiatives to serve the people of Bangladesh.

We are deeply sad to share the news that our colleague Mr. Md. Asikuzzaman, Senior Professional Service Officer who had been working in Sales Pharma Division at Gazipur Region, had passed away on December 19, 2025 by a road accident. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un. He was 33 years old.

Mr. Asikuzzaman joined Renata in December 2021 and served the company for 4 years. Let us all pray for the eternal repose of the departed soul, and for the bereaved family, may they find the strength to carry on in their time of sorrow.
