It also strives to improve equitable access to quality MNH services, especially for the poor and marginalized who are more susceptible to maternal and neonatal deaths. Additionally, it facilitates health systems improvements and policy changes for sustained impact at scale. Project Duration:
April 2018-April 2023

Project reach:
Sunamganj, Netrokona, Shariatpur, Sylhet, Mymensingh, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Manikganj, Kushtia, Faridpur, Madaripur, Chandpur, Lakshmipur, Feni, Noakhali, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar and Sandwip.

Remakri, under the Thanchi Upazila of Bandarban district, is the remotest union in the hill tracts and one of the hardest-to-reach areas of the country. Even after fifty years of independence, people of this area were completely deprived of healthcare services. They had to travel by boat and walk for about 2.5 hours to reach Thanchi Upazila Sadar to avail the necessary health care services.
USAID’s MaMoni Maternal and Newborn Care Strengthening Project supports the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh to deliver maternal and newborn services at 147 hard-to-reach unions. These hard-to-reach areas include underprivileged communities living in the various chars, haors, tea gardens, and hills.
USAID’s MaMoni MNCSP has made a unique contribution to the strengthening of healthcare in hard-to-reach areas by establishing the only healthcare center in Remakri union.
Let's hear the story from Jin, a midwife working at this healthcare center in Remakri.
