Yesterday, we had the privilege of meeting with the Honorable Health Minister.
We took the opportunity to inform him about our current challenges, including unemployment and the slow recruitment process. Sir reassured us regarding the upcoming circular and encouraged us to organize a large rally on the occasion of the International Day of Midwife.

মাননীয় স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রী সরদার মো. সাখাওয়াত হোসেনের সাথে ইউএনএফপিএ বাংলাদেশের প্রতিনিধি ক্যাথরিন ব্রিন কামকং এক সৌজন্য সাক্ষাতে তাঁরা দেশের নারী ও কিশোরীদের স্বাস্থ্যসেবার মানোন্নয়ন নিয়ে আলোচনা করেন। এই আলোচনার অন্যতম মূল বিষয়বস্তু ছিল স্থানীয় স্বাস্থ্যকেন্দ্রগুলোতে পর্যাপ্ত দক্ষ মিডওয়াইফ নিয়োগ নিশ্চিত করা, যাতে মায়েরা নিজ এলাকাতেই নিরাপদ প্রসব সেবা পান। বর্তমানে দেশে ২৫ হাজারের বেশি মিডওয়াইফের চাহিদা রয়েছে। মাতৃমৃত্যু কমাতে এবং মা ও নবজাতকের উন্নত যত্ন নিশ্চিত করতে এই দক্ষ কর্মীগোষ্ঠী তৈরি ও নিয়োগের ওপর বিশেষ গুরুত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে আলোচনায়।

মন্ত্রী মহোদয়ের সঙ্গে আলাপকালে মা ও নবজাতকের স্বাস্থ্যসেবা নিশ্চিতে জীবনরক্ষাকারী ওষুধ ও জন্মনিয়ন্ত্রণ সামগ্রী সরবরাহের ওপর গুরুত্ব দেন ইউএনএফপিএ প্রতিনিধি। সেইসাথে জরায়ুমুখের ক্যান্সার প্রতিরোধ, প্রসবজনিত ফিস্টুলা চিকিৎসা এবং শহরাঞ্চলের প্রান্তিক জনপদে বসবাসরত নারীদের স্বাস্থ্যসেবার মানোন্নয়নের মাধ্যমে স্বাস্থ্য খাতে বিনিয়োগ ও সুরক্ষা বৃদ্ধির বিষয়টিও আলোচনায় উঠে আসে। এছাড়াও, জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের চ্যালেঞ্জ মোকাবিলায় দেশের স্বাস্থ্য ব্যবস্থাকে আরও শক্তিশালী ও স্থিতিস্থাপক করে তোলার বিষয়ে উভয় পক্ষ একমত পোষণ করেন।

দেশের প্রতিটি নারী ও কিশোরী যাতে প্রয়োজনীয় স্বাস্থ্যসেবা পায়, তা নিশ্চিত করতে বাংলাদেশ সরকারের পাশে থাকার প্রতিশ্রুতি পুনর্ব্যক্ত করেছে ইউএনএফপিএ।

Young Midwife Leader (YML) Program
Application Form – 2026

Are you passionate about strengthening the midwifery profession in Bangladesh? If yes, the BMS Young Midwife Leader (YML) Program aims to equip midwives with the skills and knowledge needed to become effective leaders in their profession. Selected participants will have opportunities to develop their competencies in areas such as leadership development, media and advocacy, English language, and information technology (IT). A total of five midwives will be selected for the YML Program 2026.

Interested candidates are requested to complete this application form and send it to bms.info.bd@gmail.com by 12 April 2026.

Eligibility Criteria
To apply for the YML Program, applicants must be an active member of BMS, a Registered Midwife, completed five online courses from the BMS Education Platform in 2026, not received YML program previously

On behalf of Bangladesh Midwifery Society (BMS), those instruments were provided to Bogura Nursing College, Bogura as part of 2025 promotional offer. According to the terms of this offer, if all students of a class enrolled as BMS member, they would receive a Doppler device and a BP machine.
The students successfully fulfilled this condition by becoming members and subsequently communicated with BMS via email to claim the offered instruments.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Respected Principal, Ms. Ruby Akter Banu madam, along with Ms. Farida Yasmin madam, Ms. Fatema Khatun madam, Ms. Najmun Nahar madam, Ms. Nargis madam and all midwifery students of Bogura Nursing College, Bogura.
and handed over by the General Secretary of BMS, Hasna Akter.
