অবসরপ্রাপ্ত ডি আইজি অবসরের অনেক বছর পর তার শহরের একটি থানায় গেলো জিডি করতে ।কেউ তাকে সালাম দিলো না, এগিয়ে এলো না, কারণ কেউ তাকে চিনতে পারেনি। থানায় যারা কাজ করছেন সবাই নতুন।

তিনি নিজেকে সাবেক ডি আইজি হিসেবে পরিচয় দেন।পরিচয় পাওয়ার পর একজন অফিসার তাকে চা অফার করেন এবং কৌতূহলবশত জিজ্ঞেস করেন, "অবসরের পর আপনার দিনকাল কেমন যাচ্ছে?”

সাবেক ডি আইজি বলেন,"প্রথম ২/১ বছর খুব খারাপ লেগেছে।নতুন পরিস্থিতির সঙ্গে মানিয়ে নিতে কষ্ট হয়েছে।এখন আমি বুঝতে পেরেছি, দাবা খেলা শেষ হওয়ার পরে রাজা এবং সৈনিকদের একই বাক্সে রাখা হয়। পদ, পদবী, উপাধি, শান-শাওকাত সবই অস্থায়ী। মানুষের ভালোবাসাটা স্থায়ী, বিনয় ও সদাচরণ দিয়ে যা অর্জন করতে হয়।”
