COVID-19 REPORTS ANALYSIS

1. Complete Blood Count
• Lymphopenia
• Leucopenia or leucocytosis
• Thrombocytopenia
• Neuteophil and lymphocytes ratio > 3.5 - is a poor prognostic sign
2. Other blood test
• CRP- Increased
• Procalcitonin- normal (if increased think of bacterial infection)
• Ferritin- raised
• D- dimer: raised ( poor prognostic value)
• LFT- may be altered
• LDH- Raised
• Antiphospholipid antibodies - may be positive
• IL- 6 level: raised
3. Others tests can be done
• ABG
• BLOOD C/S
• OTHER C/S
• Respiratory panel analysis
• Renal function , urine routine examination

4. Imaging studies
A. Chest Xray
• Common abnormal radiograph findings were consolidation and ground glass opacities
• with bilateral, peripheral, and lower lung zone distributions;
• lung involvement increased over the course of illness, with a peak in severity at 10 to 12 days after symptom onset.
B. HRCT chest is very much suggestive and shows the following
• Bilateral, subpleural, peripheral ground glass opacities
• Bronchovascular thickening
• Crazy paving appearances
• Traction bronchiectasis can be found
c. USG of chest also can be done

5. Detection of the virus (SARS-CoV-2)
• Specimens
a. URT- oropharyngeal swab, nasal swab, nasopharyngeal secretions
b. LRT- sputum, BAL, airway secretions
• Investigation
a. Viral nucleic acid detection- by RT-PCR
b. NAAT by rapid test- not available in Bangladesh till now
