To reduce to***co-related deaths and usage, and to build a healthy, to***co-free nation, 17 anti-to***co organizations, along with students from the University of Dhaka, organized a rally and symbolic coffin procession demanding the swift passage and strengthening of the proposed amendments to the To***co Control Act, formulated by the Health Services Division. The rally was held on Wednesday morning (9 July 2025) in the TSC area of the University of Dhaka. After the rally, the coffin procession marched through the university premises and concluded its course.

রাজধানীর খিলক্ষেত জোয়ার সাহারা বাস ডিপো প্রশিক্ষণ কক্ষে ‘পেশাজীবি গাড়ি চালকদের পেশাগত দক্ষতা ও সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধিমূলক প্রশিক্ষণ’ শিরোনামে গাড়ী চালকদের মাঝে তামাক নিয়ন্ত্রণ আইন বাস্তবায়ন ও স্বাস্থ্য ক্ষতি বিষয়ক প্রশিক্ষণ ও তথ্যচিত্র উপস্থাপন করেন ঢাকা আহ্ছানিয়া মিশনের স্বাস্থ্য সেক্টরের প্রকল্প কর্মকর্তা অদুত রহমান ইমন। গত ৩ জুলাই'২৫ প্রশিক্ষণে মোট ৬০ জন পেশাদার গাড়ি চালক অংশগ্রহণ করেন।
ধূমপান ও তামাকজাত দ্রব্য ব্যবহার (নিয়ন্ত্রণ) আইন (সংশোধিত-২০১৩) এর যথাযথ বাস্তবায়নের লক্ষ্যে বাংলাদেশ রোড ট্রান্সপোর্ট অথরিটি (বিআরটিএ) এর উদ্যোগে ও ঢাকা আহ্ছানিয়া মিশন স্বাস্থ্য সেক্টরের সহযোগিতায় উক্ত প্রশিক্ষণ প্রদান করা হয়।

আজ রবিবার বিকেলে (২৯ জুন) ঢাকা বিভাগীয় কমিশনারের কার্যালয়ে ‘জনস্বাস্থ্য সুরক্ষায় শতভাগ ধূমপানমুক্ত হোটেল–রেস্তোরাঁ নিশ্চিতকরণে করণীয়’ শীর্ষক মতবিনিময় সভার আয়োজন করে ঢাকা আহ্ছানিয়া মিশন। ঢাকা বিভাগীয় কমিশনার শরফ উদ্দিন আহমদ চৌধুরী’র সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠানে আলোচক হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন অতিরিক্ত বিভাগীয় কমিশনার আজমল হোসেনসহ ঢাকার শতাধিক হোটেল-রেস্তোরার মালিক ও প্রতিনিধিগণ। স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন, ঢাকা আহ্ছানিয়া মিশনের স্বাস্থ্য সেক্টরের উপ-পরিচালক মোখলেছুর রহমান। এ সময় তামাক নিয়ন্ত্রণ আইন শক্তিশালীকরণের মাধ্যমে শতভাগ ধূমপানমুক্ত পরিবেশ নিশ্চিত করতে হোটেল ও রেস্তোরাঁয় স্মোকিং জোন রাখার বিধান বাতিলের দাবি জানিয়েছে ঢাকা বিভাগের হোটেল-রেস্তোরাঁর মালিকরা।

At the global stage of the World Conference on To***co Control ( ), Mr. Iqbal Masud, Director of the Health & WASH Sector at Dhaka Ahsania Mission, raised a critical concern—the impact of USAID funding cuts on to***co control efforts in Bangladesh.
Also he emphasized how these cuts threaten the progress made in protecting public health.
He highlighted key areas at risk:

WHO Global Ambassador for Noncommunicable Diseases and Injuries Michael R. Bloomberg announced the winners of the 2025 Bloomberg Philanthropies Awards for Global To***co Control at the World Conference on To***co Control in Dublin, Ireland, on 23rd June, 2025. Government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from 🇮🇳 India, 🇲🇺 Mauritius, 🇲🇽 Mexico, 🇲🇪 Montenegro, 🇵🇭Philippines, and 🇺🇦 Ukraine were recognized for their achievements in combating to***co use. A new $20 million Accelerator Fund was also announced during the event to help advance progress in countries where to***co control is stalled. Bloomberg Philanthropies has been working with 🇧🇩Bangladesh for a long time and has declared to work with partners to proactively engage governments and NGOs in several low- and middle-income countries to continue momentum across the to***co control movement.
