আজ বুধবার (২৭ আগস্ট) ঢাকা আহছানিয়া মিশন *‘বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা’র এফসিটিসি’র বাস্তবায়ন ও তামাক নিয়ন্ত্রণ আইনের সংশোধনী দ্রুত পাস’* শীর্ষক গণমাধ্যম কর্মীদের সাথে একটি মতবিনিময় সভার আয়োজন করে।

সভায় আলোচক হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন, জাতীয় প্রেস ক্লাবের সভাপতি হাসান হাফিজ, ক্রাইম রিপোর্টার্স এসোসিয়েশনের (ক্রাব) সাধারণ সম্পাদক এম এম বাদশাহ, ইকোনমিক রিপোর্টার্স ফোরামের (ইআরএফ) সাধারণ সম্পাদক আবুল কাশেম, বাংলাদেশ হেলথ রিপোর্টার্স ফোরামের সভাপতি রাশেদ রাব্বি, ঢাকা আহছানিয়া মিশনের নির্বাহী কমিটি সদস্য অধ্যাপক ডা. মো. শহিদুল আলম ও মো. আবু মাসুদ। সভায় মূল প্রবন্ধ উপস্থাপন করেন জনস্বাস্থ্য বিশেষজ্ঞ ও বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থার সাবেক ন্যাশনাল প্রফেশনাল ডা. সৈয়দ মাহাফুজুল হক। ঢাকা আহছানিয়া মিশনের সহ-সভাপতি ডা. মোহাম্মদ খলিলউল্লাহ’র সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠানে স্বাগত বক্তব্য রাখেন ঢাকা আহছানিয়া মিশনের স্বাস্থ্য ওয়াশ সেক্টরের পরিচালক ইকবাল মাসুদ।

এসময় জনস্বাস্থ্য সুরক্ষা ও তামাকজনিত মৃত্যু হ্রাসে তামাক নিয়ন্ত্রণ আইনের খসড়া সংশোধনী অবিলম্বে পাস এবং ‘বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য সংস্থা’র এফসিটিসি’র বাস্তবায়নের দাবি জানানো হয়।

On Wednesday (27 August), Dhaka Ahsania Mission organized a discussion meeting with media professionals on “Implementation of WHO FCTC and Immediate Passage of the Amendment to the To***co Control Law.”

The discussion was attended by National Press Club President Hasan Hafiz, Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) General Secretary M. M. Badsha, Economic Reporters Forum (ERF) General Secretary Abul Kashem, Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum President Rashed Rabbi, and Dhaka Ahsania Mission Executive Committee Members Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidul Alam and Md. Abu Masud. The keynote paper was presented by public health expert and former National Professional Officer of the World Health Organization, Dr. Syed Mahafuzul Haque. The program was presided over by Dhaka Ahsania Mission Vice-President Dr. Mohammad Khalilullah, while the welcome speech was delivered by Iqbal Masud, Director of Health and WASH Sector of Dhaka Ahsania Mission.

At the event, speakers strongly urged for the immediate passage of the draft amendment to the To***co Control Law and the implementation of the WHO FCTC to protect public health and reduce to***co-related deaths.

Today, Saturday (23 August 2025), a youth rally and assembly was held demanding the amendment of the To***co Control Law, cancellation of the decision to hold a meeting with to***co companies, and the swift passage of the draft amendment. Later, a delegation of young people submitted a petition to the Chief Adviser.

They called for swift passage of the proposed amendments to strengthen the law in order to prevent premature deaths caused by to***co use.
