A National WASH Story Contest Prize Giving Ceremony

A National WASH Story Contest was held as part of the observance of the World Water Day 2015 under the collaborative partnership of DPHE, PSU, UNIC, UNICEF, WSP-The World Bank, OXFAM, NGO Forum for Public Health and Bangladesh WASH Alliance.

Upholding this year’s theme “Water and Sustainable Development”, the story contest made a call for stories on water issues from students and others in a bid to sensitize the public on the role and importance of water in everyday life.

We have organized a Prize Giving Ceremony on November 04, 2015 at the Conference Lounge of National Press Club to award prizes to writers for the best five stories received in the contest.

Ms. Suraiya Begum, NDC, Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office, Dhaka was the Chief Guest. Engr. Khaleda Ahsan, Chief Engineer, Dept. of Public Health Engineering and Md. Shofiqul Alam, WASH Specialist, UNICEF has attended the program as Special Guest. Bangladesh WASH Alliance Country Coordinator Alok Majumder was in the Chair.

The first winner got a laptop and other four got a tab from the organizers. The winners expressed their personal attachment with the stories and they also shared their hardships related to scarcity of water. All of them wrote their own stories which had been selected from 428 stories received from the whole country.
