With the rapid growth of eye care sector in Bangladesh, a specialized hospital for the treatment of all eye related diseases was much needed. was founded on 18th September 2005 with the aim of providing world-class eye care service to the community at an affordable cost. Since then, we have been able to keep pace with the standards set by the international ophthalmology community in relation to outstanding patient care as well as the latest in medical advancements. With the promise and commitment in eye care, Bangladesh Eye Hospital Ltd. is now serving from 5 branches located in Dhanmondi, Uttara, Shantinagar, Chittagong and a non-profit “Bangladesh Eye Trust Hospital” in Rayerbazar. At present Bangladesh Eye Hospital Ltd. have 93 consultants, 41 medical officers and over 570 staffs. All of whom are constantly striving to provide the best eye care service to every individual who walks through our doors. চোখের জন্য স্বাস্থ্যকর জীবনধারা এবং খাদ্য অভ্যাস জরুরি।

আপনার শরীরের অন্যান্য অংশের মতো আপনার চোখেরও বিশ্রাম প্রয়োজন। তাই আপনার চোখ সুস্থ রাখতে প্রতি রাতে পর্যাপ্ত ঘুম নিশ্চিত করুন। এবং প্রচুর পরিমাণে ফল এবং রঙিন বা গাঢ় সবুজ শাকসবজি যুক্ত একটি খাদ্য তালিকা তৈরী করুন যা চোখের স্বাস্থ্যের জন্য উপকারী। মাছের মতো ওমেগা-৩ ফ্যাটি অ্যাসিড সমৃদ্ধ খাবার খাওয়া আপনার ম্যাকুলার ডিজেনারেশনের ঝুঁকি কমাতে পারে।

কেরাটোকোনাস কি?
কেরাটোকোনাস হচ্ছে এমন একটি অসুখ যাতে কর্নিয়ার কোলাজেন টিস্যুর ঘাটতিতে কর্নিয়া পাতলা হতে হতে কোনাকৃতির হয়ে যায়। এতে চোখের দৃষ্টি শক্তি কমে যায় এবং যতটুকু দৃষ্টি কমে যায় তা সাধারণ চশমায় আর বাড়ে না। এই অসুখ প্রতি ২০০০ জনের মধ্যে ১ জনের হতে পারে। রোগের লক্ষণ খুব অল্প বয়সে দেখা যায় এবং রোগ বৃদ্ধির পরিমাণ সবচেয়ে বেশী হয় ১০-৩০ বছর বয়সের মধ্যে। এই অসুখটি সাধারণত পারিবারিক, জিনগত বা টিস্যুর ঘাটতির জন্য হতে পারে।

কেরাটোকোনাসের চিকিৎসা: -
এখন পর্যন্ত কেরাটোকোনাস রোগীর কর্নিয়ার সম্পূর্ন নিরাময় করার কোন পদ্ধতি জানা নেই। তবে পর্যায়ক্রমে নিচের চিকিৎসাগুলি প্রচলিত আছে:

১. চশমা: কেরাটোকোনাস রোগীদের প্রাথমিক অবস্থায় চশমা দিয়ে দৃষ্টির উন্নতি করা যায়।

২. কন্ট্যাক্ট লেন্স:যখন রোগীদের শুধু চশমায় দৃষ্টি ভালো করা যায় না তখন দৃষ্টির উন্নতির জন্য কন্ট্যাক্ট লেন্স (RGP/ROSE-K/ SCLERAL CONTACT LENS) দেয়া যায়।

৩. CXL with Riboflavin (Corneal Collagen Cross-linking with Riboflavin): এই পদ্ধতি C3R CCL নামেও পরিচিত। এই চিকিৎসা কেরাটোকোনাসের দুর্বল কর্নিয়াকে সবল করে এবং নিজস্ব প্রতিরোধ ক্ষমতাকে শক্তিশালী করে। ফলে কর্নিয়ার শক্তি প্রায় ৩০০% পর্যন্ত বৃদ্ধি পায় এবং কর্নিয়ার এই শক্তি বৃদ্ধি কেরাটোকোনাসের বৃদ্ধিকে থামিয়ে দেয়।

৪.কর্নিয়া সংযোজন: যখন কর্নিয়া অনেক বেশী পাতলা হয়ে যায় অথবা কর্নিয়াতে দাগ পড়ে যায় অথবা কন্ট্যাক্ট লেন্স কাজ করে না তখন দুর্বল কর্নিয়ার পরিবর্তে নতুন কর্নিয়া সংযোজন বা ট্রান্সপ্লান্ট করা হয়। এই নতুন কর্নিয়া মৃত্যুর পর মানব দেহ হতে সংগ্রহ করা হয়। যদিও এই অপারেশনের সফলতার পরিমাণ বেশী।

আমাদের কন্টাক্ট লেন্স ক্লিনিকে সকল ধরনের কন্টাক্ট লেন্স এবং কন্টাক্ট লেন্স সম্পর্কিত সমস্যার চিকিৎসা দেয়া ছাড়াও কেরাটোকোনাস রোগীদের জন্য RGP/ROSE-K/ SCLERAL CONTACT LENS লেন্সের সহায়তা দেয়া হয়।
