A five year's old girl came to SQUARE HOSPITAL LTD Dhaka Bangladesh with history of aspiration of Hijab Pin few days ago

In X-ray there is a foreign body in left principal bronchus

During flexible bronchoscopy the foreign body (a 4cm Hijab Pin with one side rounded plastic ball in the tip and another sides sharp) is found in left principal bronchus which is grasped with Rat Tooth foreign body forceps and extracted out successfully.

Four-years-old young boy presented with a one-month history of low-grade fever, left sided chest pain, dry cough and breathlessness on exertion. Clinical examination revealed signs of volume loss with decreased breath sounds on the left upper lobe areas, suggesting left upper lobe collapse with obstructed bronchus. Routine blood investigations were within normal limits. Chest X-Ray confirmed the left upper lobe collapse . Patient underwent fibreoptic bronchoscopy. It revealed a light green foreign body (A tip of ball point pen) tightly stuck granulation tissue in the left upper lobe bronchus. On probing the patient he admitted to accidentally swallowing the tip of a pen cap five months back. The foreign body was removed with Flexible bronchoscopy. But it's not so easy to remove. First we try to remove the tip with foreign body forceps and failed because of the granulation tissues are stuck the tip. Then we go for Argon Plasma Coagulation. After coagulating the granulation tissues we are success remove the foreign body.

It’s just heavenly to see the smile of stress free parents after removal of Airway foreign body of their child. 2 years 10 months old boy, had H/O chocking during eating nut 🥜 15 days back. The nut removed by basket with flexible scope.
Thanks to Dr. Uzzal Kumar Ghosh, assistant prof. Khaza Yunus medical college for refer the child.
