since it has started operation on October 1990, has tried to obtain some standard protocol to implement in the hospital to prevent Infection/Cross Infection of the patients. But such standard protocol for Infection Control were not readily available in the existing hospital or related Health Care Organization. Considering the urgency of the matter and absence of standard protocol, Monowara Hospital (Pvt.) has taken up a project to create awareness against Infections among the medical staff and other related in Health Care Services. There was no step taken up by the public or private sector hospital/clinic regarding this important issue. Management has taken up the initiative to create a standard protocol for Infection Control in the hospital. On that circumstances, our hospital organized a 02 (two) days seminar on Hospital Hygiene and Infection control in 1995 and in that programme we had invited 57 local hospital and clinic and a total 37 clinics has been represented by their mid level manager, doctors and nurse. With the continuation, we started a “Basic Course” on “Train the Trainer” on “Hospital Hygiene and Infection Control” in cooperation with ST. SOIG, school for specialized Health Education, Groneingen, The Netherlands. It was a 07 (seven) weeks long training course in there phases with 10 (ten) follow up classes. At present, we trained 02 (two) batches a total 31 (thirty one) SSN from 25 (twenty five) different Government, Military, Private, NGO hospital. The 31 (thirty one) participants from the various hospitals of the country are now ICPs, and they are now forming Infection Control Committee in their own respective hospitals. They have also taken the tasks of making various projects of prevention of HAI in their own hospital. Various project are:-

2. Identification and segregation of hospital waste
3. IV Infusion
4. Sharks, Needle stick injury
5. Urinary Catheterization
6. Universal Precaution
ICP has formed Bangladesh Society of Infection Control Practitioners (BSICP) and also become a member of the IFIC (International Federation of Infection Control)
