We are delighted to announce that the finalized printed version of the AMR Surveillance Report 2024 is now in our hands. The full report is also accessible on the IEDCR website via the following link.
The compilation of this report was a monumental task, accomplished through the dedicated efforts of the entire team, with the unwavering support of our esteemed Director.
This comprehensive document presents consolidated data from 11 case-based sentinel sites across the country, along with 22 laboratory-based surveillance sites—an exemplary model of public-private collaboration. In addition to the 11 public medical colleges and institutes, several renowned private laboratories—Popular, Ibn Sina, EPIC, Square, and NINS (the sole public institute among the lab-based sites)—generously contributed their data. We extend our sincere gratitude to all participating institutions.
This edition encompasses data collected between July 2023 and June 2024, representing findings from 84,098 patients and 71,269 isolates.
In addition to aggregated national data, the report features site-specific analyses and antibiograms from the 11 case-based sentinel locations. It also highlights key national and international updates on antimicrobial resistance, outlines government-led initiatives, and showcases the contributions of various development partners committed to AMR containment in Bangladesh. Embracing a One Health perspective, the report further includes recent data and activities from the Department of Livestock and the Department of Fisheries.
We acknowledge with appreciation the generous support from our development partners, including WHO, the Fleming Fund Country Grant, and US-CDC. We also recognize the invaluable role played by the national focal agency for AMR containment—CDC, DGHS.
We warmly invite you to download, review, and share your feedback on the report.
