A seminar on "PROTON THERAPY FOR IMPROVING OUTCOMES OF CANCER TREATMENT AND QUALITY OF SURVIVORSHIP", organized by Apollo Proton Cancer Centre (APCC), Chennai, India held on 1, July, 2022 at a hotel in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Sr. Consultant, Radiation Oncology of APCC Dr. Shapna Nangia spoke on the seminar. Key oncologists of the country were participated in the event.

Earlier, Dr. Swapna spoke at the press conference. She explained in detail about Proton Therapy, its treatment procedure & benefit and answered various questions of the journalists. At the press conference, a few patients receiving treatment at APCC described their experiences.

অ্যাপোলো প্রোটন ক্যান্সার সেন্টার (APCC), চেন্নাই, ইন্ডিয়া আয়োজিত "PROTON THERAPY FOR IMPROVING OUTCOMES OF CANCER TREATMENT AND QUALITY OF SURVIVORSHIP" শীর্ষক একটি সেমিনার ১লা জুলাই, ২০২২ তারিখে বাংলাদেশের ঢাকার একটি অভিজাত হোটেলে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। সেমিনারে বক্তব্য রাখেন APCC এর সিনিয়র কনসালটেন্ট রেডিয়েশন অনকোলজির ডাঃ স্বপ্না নাঙ্গিয়া। অনুষ্ঠানে দেশের প্রধান ক্যান্সার বিশেষজ্ঞরা অংশ নেন।

এর আগে সাংবাদ সম্মেলনে কথা বলেন ডাঃ স্বপ্না। তিনি প্রোটন থেরাপী, এরদ্বারা চিকিৎসা পদ্ধতি এবং উপকারিতা বিষয় বিস্তারিত ব্যাখ্যা করেন এবং সাংবাদিকদের বিভিন্ন প্রশ্নের জবাব দেন। সাংবাদিক সম্মেলনে এপিসিসিতে চিকিৎসাগ্রহণকারী কয়েকজন রোগী তাদের অভিজ্ঞতা বর্ণণা করেন।

সোস্যাল মিডিয়ায় বিভিন্ন গ্রুপে যারা চিকিৎসাসেবা প্রাপ্তির জন্য যোগাযোগ করেন অনেকেই প্রাথমিকভাবেই “কম খরচে চিকিৎসাসেবার” কথা উল্লেখ করেন। আর অধিকাংশ “সহাতাকারী” কম খরচের (!) হাসপাতাল সাজেস্ট করেন। আসলে আপনাকে প্রথমেই সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে হবে আপনার প্রয়োজন “কম খরচে চিকিৎসা নাকি সঠিক ও মানসম্মত চিকিৎসা”।

ভারতে বেশ কিছু হাসপাতাল আছে খরচ কম শুনে মানুষ পঙ্গপালের মত সেখানে ছুটে যান। তারপর শুরু হয় নানান রকম ঝক্কি ঝামেলা- ডাক্তার অ্যাপয়েন্টমেন্ট ও চিকিৎসাসেবার দীর্ঘসূত্রিতা, দীর্ঘদিন অবস্থানের কারণে থাকা-খাওয়ার বিশাল খরচ ইত্যাদি। এমন কি প্রায়শঃই রোগীর অবস্থাও সঙ্গীন হয়ে পড়ে।

যদিও অর্থনৈতিক ব্যাপারটাও হিসেবে রাখতে হয়! তবে মানসম্মত চিকিৎসাসেবাকে অগ্রাধিকার দেয়া উচিত। এক্ষেত্রে বিবেচনায় রাখবেন যেখানে চিকিৎসার জন্য যাবেন সেখানে কত দ্রুত চিকিৎসা শুরু হয়। কারণ, কোথাও গিয়ে শুধুমাত্র চিকিৎসা শুরু করতেই যদি ১০/১৫ দিন অপেক্ষা করতে হয় এ ক’দিনের খরচের একটা অংশ চিকিৎসা খরচের সাথে যোগ করে দ্রুততম সময়ে চিকিৎসা শেষ করে দেশে ফিরতে পারবেন। তাই যেসব মানসম্মত হাসপাতালে সাথে সাথেই চিকিৎসা শুরু হয় সেগুলোকেই অগ্রাধিকারের তালিকায় রাখবেন।
