National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh

National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh National Heart Foundation of Bangladesh is a non-profit, service oriented, supported and approved by the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh.

To supplement the activities of the Government on cardiovascular diseases management and prevention, this foundation was formed at the initiative of National Professor Brig. (Rtd.) Abdul Malik with some dedicated medical and non-medical social workers on 12 October 1978. Honorable Prime Minister, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh is the Chief Patron of this Foundation. The Foundation is a member of World Heart Federation, World Hypertension League and World Health Organization is also supporting the various training programs and academic activities. National Heart Foundation Hospital and Research Institute is one of the project of this foundation. Currently this hospital is functioning as 480 bedded modern cardiac hospital and carrying out all types of modern non-invasive & invasive cardiac investigations & treatments, pacemaker & other device implantation, both closed & open heart surgeries. All investigations and treatments are done at lower charges than other hospitals. This Institute is conducting postgraduate courses for doctors & different diploma courses for cardiac nurses & technicians. Clinical and epidemiological research works are being carried out. To spread it’s activities of creating awareness on heart diseases & to offer better treatment facilities for cardiac diseases, NHFB has 45 affiliated bodies throughout the country.

Prof. Fazila-Tun-Nesa Malik represents Bangladesh at APAC2025 in Bali, Indonesia:

We are proud to share that Prof. Fazila-Tun-Nesa Malik, Chief Consultant Cardiologist, National Heart Foundation Hospital & Research Institute, represented Bangladesh at the Indonesian Acute Coronary Syndrome Summit held in Conjunction with APAC2025, on July 25–26, 2025, at the Meru, Sanur, Bali, Indonesia.

Prof. F Malik was invited both as a Speaker and a Panelist in a high-profile scientific session on "The Role of Mechanical Circulatory Support Devices." Her presentation, titled “The Difference in Outcome Between ACS & CCS Patients Undergoing Left Main PCI,” received wide recognition for its clinical relevance and insightful data analysis, contributing significantly to the understanding of patient stratification and treatment outcomes in complex coronary cases.

Additionally, Prof. Fazila chaired the session on “Late Presenting STEMI,” where experts from across the Asia-Pacific region engaged in meaningful dialogue on optimizing management strategies for late STEMI cases, especially in resource-limited settings.
