EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES IN BANGLADESH
POULTRY FEED
Uttara Food & Feeds (Bangladesh) Ltd. was the group's next international foray. A poultry feed manufacturing unit, with a production capacity of 4500 MT per month is set up in Jessore for the manufacture of Broiler and Layer feed as per the requirement of the Bangladesh market. This venture has provided better technology and market access to the poultry industry of Bangladesh, which has ultimately benefited thousands of people employed in this sector.
The group's exports to Bangladesh include animal health products (AHP), nutritional health products (NHP) and day old chicks. NHP comprises of sports nutrition products and personal health and hygiene products. Being in a business that produces goods consumed by humans, tis imperative that stringent health and safety practices are implemented. For this purpose the company has set up poultry disease diagnostic labs in Jessore and Ghazipur. These labs provide free technical and diagnostic services to the poultry farmers at their door step. For Mr. B. Venkatesh Rao, the Managing Director of Uttara Foods & Feeds Pvt. Ltd., the sky is NOT the limit. in order to elaborate on his deeply thought dream, Mr. B. Venkatesh Rao diversified into the stone processing industry. The market for stone has been rapidly expanding due to the booming construction sector and due to a large number of projects such as house renovation, construction of large luxurious hotels, residences, shopping malls, and much more, all of which require natural stones. Venky’s Italy Quarries SRL marks the group's foray into the booming marble industry. Uttara Foods & Feeds Pvt. Ltd. plans to foray into the production of All-Purpose Flour (Maida) and Semolina by setting up a production unit at Pune in India. This plant, which conforms to International Safety Standards, will have a production capacity of 250 MT/day and is expected to be commissioned by April 2019.
The flour will be produced by using technology which is imported from GBS Italy & IMAS Turkey and will produce superior quality flour to cater to the domestic and international market.
Strict Quality Control will be maintained at every stage of production, commencing with the purchase of the raw material, storage, processing, and right down to distribution. Emphasis will be placed on testing and R&D to check and analyze the product before it reaches the end-consumer.,

Uttara Impex Pvt. Ltd. was established in January 2009 by Mr. B. Import Activities:
From an import perspective UIPL is the largest importer of Amino Acids, Monocaicium Phosphate, Vitamins & many other feed supplements which are vital to the poultry industry.
Feed supplements are used in poultry feed manufacture in order to include protein & phosphorus in the birds diet. At present there is no substitute for DL- Methionine, Lysine, L-Threonine & Phosphorus in the poultry diet. We import these products from world renowned producers such as Ajinomoto (Thailand), Mosaic (USA), Sumitomo Chemical (Japan), Balaji Amines Ltd (India), Sinochem, Solvay (Italy), CUC, Global Bio-Chem (China), Adisseo (France), Vitafor (Belgium).

The hatching egg industry is a highly specialized one. The VH Group has embarked upon prviding broiler hatching eggs to its customers. The company supplies hatching eggs of Vencobb 400Y and Vencobb 430Y. With the group's technical expertise, hatching eggs of uniform size, weight, colorand remarkable fertility are produced from healthy flocks which have been immunized for several viral & bacterial diseases. The parent birds are reared with Mycoplasma Prevention Programs. The : Vencobb breeders are bred by experts with the help of scientific management processes in 2 bio- secure environment.

SOYA BEAN EXTRACTION PLANT
The group has set up 3 Soya Bean extraction plants in Maharashtra- 2 at Solapur and 1 at Nanded. The combined capacity of the 3 plants is 1000MT per day. These plants produce refined edible soya bean oil with state-of-the-art machinery for high output.
VENTRI BIOLOGICALS
In 1980 the VH Group started Ventri Biologicals, its poultry vaccine manufacturing division at Pune (INDIA). With a modest beginning of 5 products, today Ventri has 37 different vaccines with more than 100 presentations. Ventri Biologicals is a pioneer in Marek's Disease Vaccine manufacture and is the only company that manufactures Marek’'s Disease vaccine in Asia.
In order to meet the increasing expectations of the farmers, the growing demand from the poultry industry & to meet the international regulatory standards, the company extended its manufacturing facilities to a second site at the International Biotech Park at Pune (INDIA) and also set up a state - of - the art Vaccines Research & Development Centre (VRDC).
The manufacturing facilities are furnished with the latest available technology inputs for the process automation and meet all international regulatory standards. The plant set up in the Biotech Park is a world class facility and is accredited with WHO GMP certification and ISO 9000:2008 certification. In order to undertake Genetic Research & Breeding for both Egg- type & Meat-type birds, the VH Group established Venco Research & Breeding Farm Pvt. Ltd. (VENCO) and

VENCO was established as a joint venture with Cobb-Vantress INC (USA) with the objective of | providing Indian Broiler farmers an economically viable broiler breed, ideally suited to Indian agro-climatic conditions.
VENCO is engaged in pure-line breeding of broiler birds and started its breeding program in 1981 with VenCobb 100 as its main product. In order to meet the ever-evolving needs of the Indian poultry market Venco has been at the forefront in providing the Indian Broiler indt with products tailor-made to suit the industry's requirement. Currently VENCO has two pro marketed in India viz. VenCobb 400Y & VenCobb 430Y.
VENCO is the only broiler breeding program in India and the 3rd in the world besides the twoin USA& Europe. i’
Venkateshwara Research & Breeding Farm (VRB) was established as a joint venture with ISA Babcock Ithaca, N.¥., USA, for undertaking pure line research & breeding for egg-type birds suited to the Indian agro-climatic and market conditions. With ultra-modern facilities at its. disposal VRB can analyze huge volumes of data on egg production, egg quality, body weight, feed consumption etc. Based on this analysis the most productive birds with best livability are chosen as pedigree candidates. The BV 300 Layer & Layer Breeder are the result of this dedicated effort.
Since 1981 VRB is recognized as an In-House R& D center by the Government of India.
HATCHING PLANS TO MAKE IT BIG
Venky's (India) Limited is a pioneer in processed chicken and chicken products in India. The processed chicken division situated at Kamshet, Pune was launched in 1996. Itis a fully automated plant with sophisticated processing facilities that ensure complete hygiene and food safety. The company has invested 36 million USD in its new chicken processing plant at Davanagere in Karnataka that successfully commenced raw meat processing in Feb 2010 and processed chicken operations in Sept 2012. This new plant has a capacity to slaughter 6000 birds per hour and debone 2000 birds per hour.
With an integrated approach to food safety, the Davanagere plant aims to assure a high level of hygiene and food safety. This is an ultra modern facility set up at par with international standards since this plant was set up with the view to export raw and processed chicken. Currently the plant slaughters more than 45,000 birds per day. All birds at the processing plant are slaughtered as per Islamic rites (Halal). This state-of- theart unit will not only add to its existing capacities but will also begin a high-profile series of expansions for the group. The plant already exports chicken legs and chicken shanks all over South East Asia.
Venky's, the brand has become synonymous with nutrition, quality and high standards in hygiene. It is the preferred supplier of raw chicken in India to highly reputed International Quick Service Restaurant chains primarily because of its adherence to international standards. The outlets rely solely on chicken sourced from the group's poultry which is processed at its own unit and so assures good quality Halal chicken. Venky's has two Chicken processing units, one at Kamshet near Pune (INDIA) and the other at Davangere in Karnataka (INDIA). Both the units are HACCP and ISO certified. B.V. Bio-Corp Pvt. Ltd., the Biotech Division of the VH group provides innovative and practical solutions for poultry health management by providing prebiotics, probiotics, organic minerals & enzymes through joint ventures, technical collaborations or marketing tie ups with world renowned companies. The division is an international joint venture with Lallemand Animal Nutrition SA, France (2003) for probiotics range of products. With an annual capacity of 20,000 MT, this facility which encompasses 2,500 square meters in Maharashtra (India) is dedicated to the manufacture of biosecurity products, poultry nutrition and human nutrition products with the support of modern premixing technology and highly skilled manpower.
The plant uses sophisticated technology from Buhler, Switzerland which promises to deliver the highest quality product with no human interference during production till product packaging. To maintain the quality of the individual ingredients, the division procures them from reliable sources of supply. These sources are subjected to regular quality checks.
B.V. Bio-Corp Pvt. Ltd. has developed an FDA approved Q.C. lab with requisite equipments to help in time quality testing before product dispatch. Collaborating with the American breeding companies Babcock and Cobb-Vantress led to the successful indigenization of broiler and layer breeds in India. Therefore, diversifying into vaccine manufacture was the next major step.
In 1980, Venkateshwara Hatcheries established Ventri Biologicals, its vaccine division in collaboration with Tri Biolabs of Pennsylvania, USA. This division was established in order to address the bio-security concerns of the poultry sector. The group then went on to collaborate with Charles River Laboratories Inc. USA (formerly known as SPAFAS Ine. USA), the world leader in SPF technology, to produce Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) eggs. Today Indiais one of the select few major producers of SPF eggs in the world.
The use of SPF eggs In the production of live vaccines (Human and Veterinary) is on the increase. SPF embryos and cell cultures derived from SPF eggs are increasingly in demand for virological research all over the world. All Ventri vaccines are derived from the group's own SPF eggs. The vaccine division makes use of its state-of-the-art-production facility to manufacture world-class biologicals in compliance with GMP. The art of poultry farming could evolve into a science because one man decided to gain in-depth knowledge of the techniques and document them for future generations. Thus was sown the seed for the Dr. B. V. Rao Institute of Poultry Management and Technology. Nestled in the outskirts of Pune, over an expanse of 46 acres, the Institute was inaugurated on 16th of May 1987. Since then, ithas trained over 5300 students from India and abroad (primarily foreign students from South EastAsia.)
The institute is supported by the VH group and provides training in scientific poultry management of broilers and layers to the existing and prospective poultry farmers, with special emphasis on hands-on-the-job training at the layer and broiler farms of the Institute. The deliberate emphasis on hands-on exposure coupled with sound theoretical knowledge makes it an epitome of excellence in the field of poultry management and technology.
The students have access to additional specialized facilities like hatcheries, large scale feed mills, diagnostic laboratories, vaccine and animal health products division, egg and poultry processing plants, poultry equipment manufacturing plants etc. The institute also has pathology, microbiology and nutrition laboratories, 4 well-stocked library with an audio-visual section and a computer section to provide all-round training to the students.

THE NEW LEAGUE - BLACKBURN ROVERS FOOTBALL CLUB
The Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group has soared to greater heights with the addition of the Blackburn Rovers Football Club (BRFC) to its league of high value ventures. In November 2010, Venky's London Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group acquired BRFC one of the most prestigious English football clubs. This heritage rich club, established in 1875, is also a founding member of the English Premier League and is located at Blackburn, Lancashire in England. Ewood Park football stadium, a multi sports facility with a capacity of over 31,000, is the home ground of the BRFC.
BRFC owns and operates the Blackburn Rovers Academy, which provides training in the sport and is a stepping stone for youngsters passionate about the game to progress to the highest levels in the game of football. This academy is at par with the topmost training facilities elsewhere in Europe. It includes 6 full-sized pitches, indoor training facilities, an indoor running track, outdoor running hill, a swimming pool, and goalkeeper training facilities as well as provides accommodation to the trainees.
This acquisition is more than just an acquisition for the owners. The project is mainly driven by the pure passion for the game of football, combined with a vision to nurture young talent in India. With a view to promote and encourage football in India, the group sponsors football tournaments at the High-School level whereby promising young players are identified and sent to the BRFC Academy in Lancashire for further intensive training, with all expenses met by the VH Group.
