Dr Nouria Afreen Neepu is a 30-year-old doctor lives and work in Mymensingh, Bangladesh. She graduated from the COMMUNITY BASED MEDICAL COLLEGE, BANGLADESH (19th Batch) in 2021.
She was diagnosed with Sensory Ganglionopathy in January 2024 which involves progressive destruction of the nerve cells in the spinal cord (Specifically dorsal root Ganglion).
Since then, she received treatment in Bangladesh, Apollo hospital Chennai (India), and Singapore. The treatment cost at these three hospitals were approximately £100, 000 in total (15 million taka), which was fully funded by her parents.
She is the only child of her parent and they have used almost all their resources including £25,000 (3.5 million taka) bank loan for her treatment. Her father is a retired bank manager and mother is a secondary school teacher. They are unable to afford the cost of the further lifesaving costly treatment. She is currently under treatment in a Singapore hospital and for the advanced treatment (Immunoglobulin/Rituximab), she requires approximately £40,000 (6 million taka). Her parents are unable to fund this treatment and raised an appeal for her lifesaving treatment.
Nouria was a bright student, very ambitious and loved by her colleagues and teachers. She is very helpful and caring to her patients and colleagues. Her friends, colleagues and teachers are very devastated by this unfortunate news and would like to help. But the amount of money she need is beyond anyone of our capacity. As a result, we raised this appeal to help her get this expensive remaining treatment.
We will be contributing as much as possible and would like everyone to contribute generously and help her live a healthy and prolonged life. Thank you for reading this appeal.
