Our Mission
"To endow a common platform for representation to all the Medical Students of the Nation irrespective of the University they study in, grades, age, sex, caste, and region they belong to." This student-governed, national association acts as a common platform for all the medical students across the nation. Such Medical Students' Association in other nations of continents like Australia, Europe, and America exists for the past 40 to 50 years. Although medical professionals are probably the most responsible of all people, they are rarely empowered or inspired, as students, to stand up and fulfill their social commitments. Description
"The only thing constant in this world is change." India today is home to about 331 medical colleges that churn out about 30,000 undergraduate students a year. At any given time, there are a total of about 100,000 undergraduate medical students in India. An urgent need is felt to establish a be-all-and-end-all umbrella organization for all medical students in India. Hence, we come forward with the establishment of the Indian Medical Students' Association. Our Goal
1. Empowering Medical Students with skills that will help them develop a better INDIA while they become professionals.
2. Promoting the feeling of ONENESS amongst all the medical students.
3. Providing a common platform for their representation irrespective of their University, Grades, Age, Caste, Sex, and Region.
4. Increasing awareness about Global Health and aboriginal health issues.
5. To impart knowledge about how to plan their future by helping them to reshape their vision and perspectives of life and their goals. Medical, being a challenging field has dragged many new admitted students into depression because of ignorance on how to cope up with the social and the mental burden they have to face.
6. Create awareness about the recent job vacancies, admission seats' vacancies, and other such issues.
7. Expose them to all the educational mal practices that are going on thus prevent them from ruining their career.
8. Providing Indian Medical Students with national as well as international contacts. A major aim shared by our founder members is to smooth the transition from student-doctor into medical professional. Disclaimer:
IMSA was formed way back in 2008 when it was just an online forum for medical students. But, over the years it grew popularity as many enthusiastic students joined in and it was late in 2011 when the need for a proper registered organisation was felt. Accordingly with help from seniors and advisers we applied for registration as a "Non-Profit Organisation". But, as per the rules of the law getting registered as "Indian Medical Students' Association" is not allowed, and hence, IMSA was registered as Indus Medical Students' Association. Although we are still popularly known by our former name.
