History & Innovation Worldwide hypertension is emerging public health problem. It is one of the leading causes of permanent disability & mortality. Prof. Dr. Md. Zakir Hossain has morbid desire to serve the humanity from his medical student life. “Dr. Wasim & Waleda Bahumukhi kallayan Foundation, Rangpur” is one of the foot step towards his long desire, an establishment after his parent’s name, as a sister organization of “Dr. Wasim & Waleda Bahumukhi kallayan Foundation, Rangpur”. ‘Hypertension and Research Center Rangpur' started its journey on 14 November 2008. An executive committee of 7 members, including doctors & local elite persons is leading the activities of both “Dr. Wasim & Waleda Bahumukhi kallayan Foundation, Rangpur” and ‘Hypertension and Research Center, Rangpur’. Founder Prof. Dr. Md. Zakir Hossain is the founder of the Hypertension and Research Centre Rangpur. He passed MBBS from Dhaka Medical College, FCPS & MD on internal Medicine. Now he is working as Professor & Head of the department of Medicine, Rangpur Medical College. Services Outdoor Counseling Laboratory Research wing Activities 1. Improving awareness of the people about Hypertension by – Seminar Open discussion Rally Organization of free blood pressure checkup camp 2. Treatment of hypertensive in centre at minimum cost 3. Lab facilities within the capabilities of the patient 4. Organization of free medical camp Service hours Saturday to Friday- 10 am to 10 pm Government holidays like 21 February, 15 August office is closed & only laboratory services are available. Hypertensive patients with or without other diseases are entitled for registration. Registration including first consultation with doctor is only 50 taka only. After registration all patients are provided a treatment manual. For subsequent visit the consultation fee only 40 taka. The treatment manual contain basic information about hypertension in Bangla, dietary advice, exercise schedule, ideal body weight etc. After registration patient’s address, all basic information e.g. height, weight, BMI are recorded in a data sheet and put in to computer. Then the patient should go to the counseling cell, where counseling has been given about hypertension. Then the patients go to the doctor, where history taking, examination and investigation findings are stored in a data sheet in computer. Chairman Prof. Dr. Md.
