Hammam Waterfall, Bangladesh -
Hammam is the name of a waterfall. This is located at Kamalganja, Maulvibazar district of Bangladesh. People of that lo
cation pronounces this as Hamham, in some Printmedia it is also written as Hamham. I got this confirmation from some local educated people, who includes govt officials and school teachers. We were four in our team and i was the youngest. By the by, I am running now 42 years and rest all are 47-48 years old. Quite young and energetic a team, no doubt. On 13 February,2011, we went to Kamalganja bazaar. This bazaar is about 20 minutes ride from Srimangal. After reaching there, we were in a dilemma about passing the night. However, lastly we got two rooms in a local boarding house and somehow passed the night by gossiping. On 14 february, 2011; at 07 a m we started from this bazaar and reached Karma BOP after 30 minutes drive. From this location our foot march started. I will narrate the details of the journey in the following paragraphs. The main beauty of this waterfall is in it's surrounding ground features. Anybody visiting this place will enjoy the whole route to the fall. But the final climax of the beauty is in the waterfall itself. Location-
This waterfall is located at Kamalganja Upazilla of Maulvi Bazar district of Bangladesh. Karma BOP is the last vehicle pliable point. The tea garden of National Tea Company is located beside this BOP. From the BOP, we moved by 3 motorcycles to the last edge of tea garden, which is about 5 km. From this point, we started our route march to reach the waterfall. You want to go there? OK, I am describing you. The Road to Hammam
The total walking time is about 2 hours 30 minutes to reach the destination. If you plan to move to see the waterfall, following precautionary arrangements should be made:
1. Be mentally ready to walk on bare foot.
2. Carry a small pack with you for carrying a camera, If possible a GPS, a water bottle and light first aid items.
3. Dont forget to get a guide from the Karma Bazar to lead you.
4. Have a bamboo stick while walking to avoid slips and fall. The whole route is full of numerous types of landscapes. From the very start point you will be walking through a forest with some some small hillocks. After walking through this for about 30 minutes, you will have to get down in a natural fountain (locally called chhara or nala), where you will have to walk trough water. The height of this water level will vary from ankle level to your thigh level time to time. You may find some people cutting bamboo in and around that fountain. Even if you dont meet them en route, you will come across the signs of bamboo extraction in that fountain. Be very careful while walking through those as to avoid leg injury by those. In many places, You will find the bottom surface of the fountain is with stones. At times those are very slippery. You need to be more careful while walking through those. That is why i mentioned for a stick to use as a support. (Info Collected From Hamham or Hammam Page)...
