Today, a free medical camp organized by Buro Hospital was held in Jhagarman village of Kalihati upazila. A total of 105 patients were treated in the camp. Out of these, about 65 patients were suffering from scabies, especially among children. Adults are also affected.

What is Scabies?
Scabies is a type of skin disease caused by a small mite called Sarcoptes scabiei. It mainly enters the skin and causes itching and rashes.

Symptoms:

Severe itching, especially at night

Small rashes or spots on the hands, fingernails, wrists, elbows and stomach

In children, it spreads to the head, face and various parts of the body

Treatment and what to do:
Creams/lotions should be used as per the doctor's advice

The patient's clothes, bedding and used items should be washed thoroughly in hot water

All family members should be treated together

If the disease is repeated, medicine should be used as per the doctor's advice

Warning: If scabies is neglected, the whole family can be affected. Therefore, it is important to seek treatment quickly.

An experience of today
Today, a patient came to our Buro Hospital in the emergency room. He came and said,
"My patient needs an IV cannula. Even after visiting 5-6 clinics in Tangail city, no one could do it, can you?"

I asked to bring the patient, and I found out that he had been suffering from diabetes, blood pressure and kidney disease for 25 years. Diabetes has also caused serious complications in his feet. The doctor advised him to take IV cannula injections for 5 days.

By the grace of God, I was able to do the cannula successfully in the first attempt.
The patient's family prayed to me with emotion, placing their hands on his head—
"Father, may God make you great."

This prayer is my greatest achievement

Viral pharyngitis and sore throat in children: Some awareness

What is viral pharyngitis?
Viral pharyngitis is a throat infection, usually caused by a virus. Children may have a sore throat, difficulty swallowing, mild fever, runny nose, or cough in this disease. In most cases, it gets better on its own, but if proper care is not taken, the child's discomfort may increase.

What can be the symptoms?

Sore throat and a scratchy feeling
Difficulty swallowing food or water
Mild fever or body heat
Congested nose / runny nose / cough
Irritable mood of the child

How can children be protected?
✅ Make regular hand washing a habit
✅ Keep away from sick children
✅ Make the child use a personal glass, bottle, spoon
✅ Feed enough water and liquid food
✅ Feed vitamin-rich foods (fruits, vegetables)
✅ Keep the child's home clean and ventilated

What to do?
Gargle with warm water or mild salt water
(for older children)
Get plenty of rest
Take medicine as advised by your doctor if you have a fever
Seek medical attention immediately if you have a fever or difficulty breathing for more than 5 days
Remember: Viral pharyngitis is usually not serious, but proper care and awareness of children is very important.

Memories from eight years ago came back today... Even though a child has Down Syndrome, his smile still touches lives."

About eight years ago, while working as a medical assistant in the NICU of Tangail General Hospital, I treated a newborn baby for a long time. The baby was suffering from many complex diseases at the time - Down Syndrome, Pneumonia, Neonatal Jaundice, etc. His condition was very critical, we took a lot of care of him.

Today, suddenly that baby and his parents recognized me and came forward. The moment was really emotional and surprising for me. Even after all these years, they remembered me. By the grace of God, the baby is now very healthy, although he still lives with Down Syndrome.

Some ideas about Down Syndrome:
👉 It is a genetic problem, where the baby has an extra chromosome (chromosome 21) in his body.
👉 This results in a slight slowdown in mental and physical development.
👉 Sometimes heart disease, respiratory problems, thyroid and other complications can occur.
👉 However, if given the right treatment, love and care, children with Down Syndrome can also live beautifully in society.

🤲 A child is not just a patient to me, but a memory of life, which makes you think - how valuable the power of treatment and care is.

নবজাতকের জন্ডিস সচেতনতা

আমাদের বুরো হাসপাতালে ৪ দিন বয়সী একটি নবজাতক আসে। পরীক্ষা করে দেখা যায় তার সিরাম টোটাল বিলিরুবিন ১৮ mg/dl।
সাথে সাথে আমরা ফটোথেরাপি চিকিৎসা শুরু করি।
আলহামদুলিল্লাহ, একদিনের মধ্যে শিশুটি সুস্থ হয়ে বাড়ি ফিরে যায়।

🔹 জন্ডিস নবজাতকদের মাঝে খুবই সাধারণ সমস্যা। তবে কখনো কখনো এটি বিপজ্জনক হতে পারে এবং দ্রুত চিকিৎসা প্রয়োজন হয়।
🔹 একটি জেলা শহরে বেসরকারিভাবে NICU সেবা থাকলে শিশুর জীবন রক্ষা করা অনেক সহজ হয়।
🔹 নিয়মিত পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা ও দ্রুত সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়াই নবজাতকের সুস্থতার চাবিকাঠি।

জন্ডিস সম্পর্কে কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তথ্য:

জন্মের পর ২–৫ দিনের মধ্যে অনেক শিশুর জন্ডিস দেখা দেয়।

রক্তে বিলিরুবিন মাত্রা বেশি হলে মস্তিষ্কে স্থায়ী ক্ষতি হতে পারে।

সময়মতো ফটোথেরাপি ও প্রয়োজনে এক্সচেঞ্জ ট্রান্সফিউশন শিশুর জীবন বাঁচায়।

তাই শিশুর ত্বক বা চোখে হলুদভাব দেখলেই দ্রুত চিকিৎসকের কাছে নিয়ে আসুন।

Today, a very complex and risky operation was completed at our Buro Hospital. The patient had previously had a cesarean operation, this time the pregnancy settled in the middle of the uterine suture (Scar), which is called Cesarean Scar Pregnancy.

This is a type of Ectopic Pregnancy, where the fetus settles inside the old suture instead of the normal place in the uterus. Such a condition is very risky—the mother's uterus may rupture, and excessive bleeding may cause life-threatening complications.

By the grace of God, Tangail's renowned gynecologist Dr. Nazma Khalil, Assistant Professor, Tangail Medical College Hospital, successfully completed this complex operation.

We are grateful for this extraordinary medical service and seek everyone's prayers for the patient's recovery.

Brief idea about the disease:

🔹 Name of the disease: Cesarean Scar Pregnancy (CSP)
🔹 What happens: The fetus settles in the gap between the sutures that were previously made in the uterus through a cesarean operation.
🔹 This is a type of: Ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy in an abnormal location in the uterus).
🔹 Risks:
The uterus may rupture
Profuse bleeding
Can be life-threatening
🔹 Treatment: Rapid ultrasound detection, medication (Methotrexate), or surgical abortion — depending on the patient's condition.

🩺 আজকের ফ্রি মেডিকেল ক্যাম্পের একটি বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতা
আজ আমাদের ফ্রি মেডিকেল ক্যাম্পে এসেছিল ১১ বছরের এক শিশু। শিশুটির মাথা ও মস্তিষ্কের আকার স্বাভাবিকের তুলনায় ছোট — চিকিৎসা ভাষায় একে মাইক্রোসেফালি (Microcephaly) বলা হয়।

মাইক্রোসেফালি কী?
এটি এমন একটি অবস্থা যেখানে শিশুর মাথা জন্মের সময় বা জন্মের পর স্বাভাবিক হারের চেয়ে ধীরে বৃদ্ধি পায়। সাধারণত মস্তিষ্কের পূর্ণ বিকাশ না হলে এ সমস্যা দেখা দেয়।

সম্ভাব্য কারণগুলো:

জন্মের আগে মায়ের মধ্যে ভাইরাস সংক্রমণ (যেমন Zika virus, রুবেলা ইত্যাদি)

গর্ভাবস্থায় পুষ্টির ঘাটতি

জেনেটিক সমস্যা

গর্ভাবস্থায় ক্ষতিকর রাসায়নিক বা অ্যালকোহল গ্রহণ

প্রসবকালীন জটিলতা

প্রভাব:
শিশুর শারীরিক বৃদ্ধি, বুদ্ধি, কথা বলা, চলাফেরা, এমনকি দৈনন্দিন কাজ করার ক্ষমতাও প্রভাবিত হতে পারে। তবে সঠিক চিকিৎসা ও যত্নের মাধ্যমে অনেক শিশুই উন্নতি করতে পারে।

যত্ন ও করণীয়:

নিয়মিত ডাক্তার/নিউরোলজিস্টের তত্ত্বাবধান

ফিজিওথেরাপি, স্পিচ থেরাপি, অকুপেশনাল থেরাপি

নবজাতকের জন্মের প্রথম দিনটি অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ, কারণ এই সময়ে তার শরীর বাইরের পরিবেশে মানিয়ে নিতে শুরু করে। সঠিক যত্ন নিলে শিশুর সুস্থ বৃদ্ধি ও সংক্রমণ প্রতিরোধ সম্ভব। জন্মের প্রথম দিনে যত্নের মূল দিকগুলো হলো—

১. তাপমাত্রা নিয়ন্ত্রণ
জন্মের পরপরই শিশুকে শুষে মুছে শুকনো কাপড়ে মুড়িয়ে দিতে হবে।

মায়ের বুকে স্কিন-টু-স্কিন কন্টাক্ট (kangaroo care) করালে শিশুর তাপমাত্রা স্বাভাবিক থাকে।

ঘরের দরজা-জানালা বন্ধ রেখে ঠান্ডা হাওয়া এড়িয়ে চলা উচিত।

২. শ্বাসপ্রশ্বাস ও নাড়ি পরীক্ষা
জন্মের সঙ্গে সঙ্গে শিশুর শ্বাসপ্রশ্বাস ঠিক আছে কিনা দেখতে হবে।

কোনো শ্বাসকষ্ট, নীলাভ ঠোঁট বা অস্বাভাবিকতা থাকলে তাৎক্ষণিক চিকিৎসকের পরামর্শ নিতে হবে।

৩. নাভির যত্ন
নাভি কেটে দেওয়ার পর স্টেরাইল (জীবাণুমুক্ত) পদ্ধতিতে যত্ন নিতে হবে।

শুকনো ও পরিষ্কার রাখতে হবে; কোনো ক্রিম, তেল বা পাউডার ব্যবহার করা যাবে না।

লালচে, ফুলে যাওয়া বা পুঁজ হলে ডাক্তারকে দেখাতে হবে।

৪. স্তন্যপান করানো
জন্মের ১ ঘণ্টার মধ্যে মায়ের প্রথম দুধ (কলোস্ট্রাম) খাওয়াতে হবে।

কলোস্ট্রামে রোগ প্রতিরোধ ক্ষমতা বেশি।

প্রথম দিন থেকেই শিশুকে কেবল বুকের দুধ দিতে হবে, পানি বা অন্য খাবার নয়।

৫. পরিষ্কার-পরিচ্ছন্নতা
শিশুর শরীর পরিষ্কার করার জন্য গরম পানিতে ভেজানো নরম কাপড় দিয়ে মুছে দিন।

প্রথম দিনে পুরো স্নান না করাই ভালো, যাতে ঠান্ডা না লাগে।

যতবার ডায়াপার পরিবর্তন করবেন, ততবার গরম পানিতে পরিষ্কার করে শুকনো কাপড় পরিয়ে দিন।

৬. পর্যবেক্ষণ
শিশুর কান্না, রঙ, নড়াচড়া, খাওয়ার আগ্রহ ইত্যাদি লক্ষ করা।

জন্ডিসের লক্ষণ (চামড়া বা চোখ হলুদ হওয়া) আছে কিনা দেখা।

প্রস্রাব ও পায়খানার পরিমাণ লক্ষ্য রাখা—

প্রথম ২৪ ঘণ্টায় অন্তত ১ বার প্রস্রাব হওয়া উচিত।
