From 3D print to bronze: medieval Vilvoorde brought to life

We had the honor of casting this tactile bronze map for the city of Vilvoorde – showing how medieval Vilvoorde once looked.

It’s designed as an experience for the visually impaired, making history both visible and tangible.

The master model was beautifully designed and 3D-printed by our local partner Printplace (Aalst) – teamwork at its best! 💪

We love collaborating with nearby creators to bring meaningful projects like this to life. 🙌

“If we could cast her bronze in only few weeks time…”. That was the question we received from NY-based artist Patricia Ayres and her gallery Mendes Wood DM while organizing Patricia’s first European solo show. “Yes we can!” we said; and the negative mold was immediately shipped in from New York to Belgium. Another smooth long-distance project realized, very happy to see the result at Mendes Wood DM in Brussels. Discover her work until August 9th in this beautifully restored 1910 Art Deco townhouse overlooking the historic Sablon district in Brussels. Her show “though poppies grow” couldn’t have been more relevant today and here, just over 100 kms away from the poppies of Flanders Fields.
