In 2014, Ruslan North and Saar Wouters, began to teach AcroYoga discipline in Antwerp on a regular base. During each of their events, everyone was welcome to discover that they can do, more than they think. After the persistent consistency of workshops, classes and jams, a thriving community has emerged. Back in that day, Ruslan and Saar used to call themselves, AcroContactYoga - they trained and taught partner-acrobatics through connection and with a spirit of yoga.
By 2020 they decided to change AcroContactYoga to AcroYoga Antwerp. With a fully stable platform for many national and international activities, it was the time for them to expand from a duo to an organized group.
And right then, when they almost sold out the 1st AcroYoga Montreal teacher training in Antwerp, and were ready to sign a contract for opening own AcroYoga centre, an unforeseen event has changed everything - Covid-19. During that extraordinary period, their focus started to move more toward the show production of another company, they were running simultaneously - Moving Fire Arts. Their entertainment production turned to develop faster and stronger, than the post-Corona AcroYoga Antwerp platform. A choice had to be made, and it became Moving Fire Arts.
Gradually, they have stopped teaching classes, workshops, immersions and festivals. There was no more space to maintain the community they have once started, because the show life took it over. AcroYoga and movement practice remained then only within their performances. The title "AcroYoga Antwerp" lost it's original goal and meaning.
But the love for AcroYoga and teaching has never diminished! Not after abandoning teaching, nor after a short break-up, followed by the reunion and even a birth of their child. The passion for acrobatic movement through yogic consciousness grew only bigger than before.
After a long time of searching and trying, we would love to announce our return to our roots, to AcroContactYoga as Ruslan and Saar duo, and opening doors to new adventures in the near future. Stay tuned!
