 Every once in a while I like to design for a good cause. Psychedelic Society Belgium is such an organization. They advocate for psychedelic-assisted mental healthcare. And with their focus on aiming to create a legal framework for therapeutic use, I offered to help with a brand dna, a logo and a simple design system that speaks to their audience .

No. 21 — Yuval (Noah Harari) .
A year ago I received a copy of 21 Lessons for the 21st Century, the latest book by historian and bestselling author , for my birthday.  Piled up between many other books, I’m almost through it now and absolutely loving it. Yuval brings clarity on some of today’s most urgent questions. His intelligence, kindness and world view are of such a distinct level, that it’s difficult not to like him .
I created a piece that feels both ethnic and organic with a hint to the dynamic force of life itself .
Oh yeah, 3 times number 21! 🤪 .

No. 20 — Melanie De Biasio

A few years back my wife introduced me to this woman's work. What a revelation. Melanie is a Belgian jazz singer, flutist and composer with Italian roots who has been surprising jazzland since her debut album A Stomach Is Burning. �

Before that album she suffered from a lung infection during a tour and - not being able to sing for a year - then developed her distinct whispering chant. The efforts from the collective on her second album No Deal take you deep inside their world, referencing some of the great bygone days of jazz music yet firmly grounded in the present. The music is engaging and refined, which was likely one of the reasons decided to remix the album.

Soulful, gentle, simple and thrilling are words I kept in mind when creating this. A tiny piece for a grand woman.

Hello-ho. Summer recap:

1) Last June I became a first time dad of a snappy, healthy boy who we named Firas. Oh the joy! And the restless nights. (It’s better now) .

2) I created a new identity and website for my own studio. Learned a new browser app for this and I must say the possibilities with are endless. (D*mn you, lovely interactions) .

3) What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger .

Naming, logotype and businesscard for a private equity consultant active in finance and biotech. ‘Fundat’, is third person Latin for ‘I establish’ and also a contraction of ‘fund(raising)’ and ‘data’

The idea for the icon stems from a ‘grounded tree withstanding every wind’ and a ‘data circuit’

No. 19 — Nima (Nabavi) .
Nima is an incredible, self-taught Iranian artist living in Dubai who makes geometric abstract art with deep connection to the natural world. His meticulous, labor intensive way of placing ink on paper constantly reveals newly found shapes which could be called ‘a shared reality’. The intricate geometries are heavily inspired by his grandfather who (also) was a master geometer .
Aside from his work he is one of the funniest people I have met, since I spent a whole week with him at Burning Man last summer. Oh man, such good times. Thanks so much for all the laughs. I look forward to catching up, my friend .
I kept this one very simple and chose to finish it with color gradients that eventually experience in his work. Check it out here:

No. 18 — Bill (Watterson) .
My first encounter with Calvin and Hobbes was in 1996 upon living in Vancouver with my family for a year. It was a collected comic book called ‘Scientific Progress Goes Boink’ that I received for my birthday and still have today. I was instantly hooked on the characters, a little boy and his inanimate stuffed tiger, which is a real tiger to him. The - usually only a few images in length since they originated as a newspaper comic, which kept them sublimely witty and fun to read - are still found translated in newspapers worldwide today .
Becoming a father of a little boy 👶🏻 in a few weeks myself, I guess we’re in for a ride !
I depicted the illustrator Bill Watterson ‘s name in a similar black & white style as the comic and integrated one eye of both boy and tiger .

No. 17 — Ida (Daugaard)
I’ve been following the Danish dj Ida Daugaard for quite a while now. Always diggin’ deep for groovy minimal tech and microhouse tracks which carefully get blended into mixes that resonate. Last summer I finally got to experience this fine lady at Garbicz Festival and wow, that set was off the hook.

No. 16 — Daniel (Schmachtenberger)

As co-founder and R&D director of Neurohacker Collective Daniel’s main interest is civilization (re)design: evolving processes for sensemaking to help bring about a world proportionate with our higher potentials. He’s arguably one of the most philosophical and scientific future thinkers I’ve listened to recently. Be sure to check out his contributions to the Rebel Wisdom talks !

Intrigued by a German font from the 1920s, I have tried to picure the letters of his name in the form of a spiritual mask 🗿

No. 15 — Satoshi (Nakamoto) .
The discussion wether Satoshi is a person or the name of a group of people is rather irrelevant. What is very relevant on the other hand is their invention in 2008 as an answer to our previous recession, Bitcoin. The mother of the decentralized digital currencies, running on the public distributed ledger called blockchain, automatically cuts its supply of coins in half once every four years, with the next halving set on May 18. While the stock-to-flow continues to hold, the timing could not have been more accurate. Surf’s up! 🏄‍♂️

No. 14 — Aubrey (Marcus) .
One word, beast. Aubrey Marcus, founder of Onnit, a health optimization & lifestyle brand, is also a motivational coach and writer of ‘Own The Day, Own Your Life’. His holistic approach to the human wellbeing shines forth in everything he does. Since almost a year I’ve been hooked on his podcasts, which I listen to when running or commuting. This one’s for you, man .
Inspired by the 1930’s I tried to capture a hints of the collective consciousness and lil' 80s vibe when creating these letters .

No. 13 — Helen (Folasade Adu) aka Sade .
This woman doesn’t really need an introduction. She's is not only the lead singer of the eponymous band but also a style icon, fashion designer and actress. Her debut album ‘Diamond Life’ from 1984 (my birth year) is a soulful classic and still puts a funky smile to my face every time I hear it .
I integrated her real first name Helen twice in this one .
