Last Friday, we had the pleasure of facilitating a resilience workshop at NATO for both civilian and military staff.
In demanding environments, resilience is not just about performance under pressure.

It is also about knowing how to pause, regulate, recover, and reconnect to clarity and focus.

Together, we explored practical tools to: • recognise early stress signals
• step out of autopilot reactions
• restore composure and attention
• strengthen sustainable performance and human connection

You’re not craving sugar because you lack discipline.

After a long or demanding day, your body is simply trying to regulate.

It needs energy.
It needs grounding.
It needs a moment to settle.

Sugar, salt, or eating can briefly soothe that.

So what if these cravings are not a failure —
but a signal?

Pause for 20 seconds.
Feel your feet.

Staying clear, grounded and effective — especially under pressure.

This week, Beate Trück and Rainer Arndt facilitated a resilience workshop for the country managers of GC Dental (Europe & Middle East).

A simple reminder:
Leadership under pressure is not about pushing harder.

It’s about
• noticing stress early
• pausing before reacting
• regulating your state
• creating focus and safety for your team

Not big tools —
but small, well-integrated micro practices.

That’s where resilience becomes real.

You can sleep well, take breaks — and still feel exhausted.

And that can be confusing.

Often, it’s not physical fatigue.
It’s emotional.

I see this quite often — especially in people who are used to holding things together, being present for others, and staying composed.

Here are 3 subtle signs you might need emotional rest:

• You feel drained after interactions — even small ones
• You keep things together on the outside, but feel tense or flat inside
• You don’t quite feel like yourself, even when nothing is “wrong”

In many situations, we are constantly adapting, regulating, and responding.
And that takes energy.

Emotional rest is not about doing nothing.
It’s about giving your system moments where it doesn’t have to perform.

Sometimes, it starts very simply:
a pause, a breath, a moment of being fully yourself again.

I’m curious if you recognise this in yourself.
