Accessing across borders is important to improve the quality of care. For that, we need accessible & interoperable for patients. The Recommendation published this week will improve citizens' life, support Member States & innovators of the next generation of digital solutions

The ability to exchange health records across borders will benefit citizens seeking treatment while abroad in the EU, such as for specialist advice, or falling ill while travelling, or for those citizens who have moved to another Member State and would like joined up medical records.

EUR 5 Million of funding are available for projects that improve cross-border healthcare access and services using ICT tools under the 2018 Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) Telecom call. The list of CEF eHealth projects that were funded from 2014 until 2017 has also been published.
