Did you know Finland and Sweden share a 500km border, yet no passenger train has crossed it in 30 years? 🚆 That is finally changing in June 2026.

💧On 19 May, partners from the "Blue Transition" project gathered in Brussels🇧🇪 to share key results on water and soil management in the face of climate change.

Co-funded by Interreg North Sea Programme, this initiative supports the priority: "A climate-resilient North Sea Region."✅

🌾Trust, cooperation, and continuity were at the heart of the discussions. From farmers to policymakers, scientists to citizens, working together at all levels is crucial in order to develop climate resilient regions.

🙌Key takeaway: building strong partnerships and keeping the momentum alive is just as important as the research itself. It is very important to capitalise on successful projects and results to have a larger impact on the territories.

"It took visionary people, intrepid entrepreneurs, scientific rigour, advocacy, and lucky stars to get there. Now, with the EU acknowledging wind as a green fuel and 10,000 wind propulsion installations forecast by 2030, wind-assisted shipping is taking off in a big way. This is the story of WASP, an Interreg North Sea project that played no small part in this development." - Sofie Forfang, communication officer at the Interreg North Sea Programme

🇳🇴🤝🇪🇺 Norway becomes a full member of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region!

Today the European Commission has formalised Norway’s inclusion in the Strategy, reinforcing cooperation across the Baltic Sea Region on resilience, security, innovation, connectivity and territorial cohesion.

As Executive Vice-President Raffaele Fitto highlighted, Norway’s participation strengthens the Baltic dimension of EU cooperation and reflects the strategic importance of resilient and connected eastern border regions.

A strong signal that macro-regional cooperation matters more than ever in today’s geopolitical context. 🌍
