What kind of evidence supports radiotherapy innovations today❓
💡 The study, just published in the Green Journal, analysed more than 3,700 papers (2012–2022) and found large variations in study design and endpoints across innovation types:
🔹 Only 1 % were randomised controlled trials.
🔹 Most studies were observational.
🔹 Endpoints varied widely — from survival to toxicity or technical metrics.
These findings confirm that a “one-size-fits-all” evidence model does not work for radiotherapy — reinforcing the need for the VBRO categorisation framework for future innovations assessment.
