🚀 The Belgian Boost Factor: Unveiling the Impact of Advertising on Search Behavior 🔍

For years, the question of how advertising influences search behavior has remained unanswered—until now. The team at Choreograph Belgium, the data company of WPP/GroupM, took on the challenge and launched an ambitious project called "The Belgian Boost Factor."

📊 Using Marketing Mix Modeling, Choreograph Belgium statistically analyzed how advertising drives search behavior across 34 categories and 155 brands. Each brand was individually modeled, covering a total gross advertising value of €1.4 billion. This analysis is unprecedented in both scale and depth.

💡 Two key concepts were applied during the modelling process:
Adstock 🕒: Measures the long-term impact of advertising on consumer behavior.
Lag Effect 🔄: Captures the "echo of advertising," where consumer search behavior continues over time—even without ongoing media pressure.

📈 By correlating search behavior with media pressure across different channels, the Choreograph team gained a comprehensive understanding of how advertising influences search activity. This groundbreaking study offers valuable insights into the enduring power of advertising.

Big news: The Test & Learn Project Team (Florian Linclau, Olivier Leroux and Mathieu Peyronnaud) with our project sponsor Michel Ferro just wrapped up our very first Test & Learn Workshop – and it was a blast!

Our mission? To empower our media experts with the ultimate toolkit to design, execute, track, and report on innovative tests. Think of it as an experimentation bootcamp, packed with best practices, cautionary tales (yep, what NOT to do!), and reusable templates to make testing a breeze.
