📢 We are delighted to announce that the 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗢 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲, ESICM’s society journal! This marks a 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, made possible by the dedication and collaboration of hundreds of ICUs and professionals worldwide.

💬 The HELLO Trial was a 𝟭:𝟭 𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 conducted in 𝟯𝟳𝟬 𝗜𝗖𝗨𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝟲𝟬 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, comparing a four-week positive communication intervention to usual care. Its goal: to 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗿, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗜𝗖𝗨 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 — greetings, kind messages, role modelling, and visible encouragement.

💡 Key outcomes:
✅ 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 to 52.2% vs. 63.3% in controls
✅ Emotional exhaustion and depersonalisation decreased
✅ 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, workplace safety, and ethical climate improved

The research team is now preparing 𝟲-𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄-𝘂𝗽 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 and developing an algorithm for burnout prediction.

For one extraordinary week, Munich became the beating heart of intensive care — where science met compassion, ideas sparked connection, and every conversation carried the promise of change.

🎓 Today’s 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 at was a wonderful opportunity to express our heartfelt 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗖𝗠’𝘀 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻.
