Lieven Bossuyt, Head of Lichtwerk in Belgium, directly links digitalisation to increasing autonomy and choice for people with disabilities. However, the key aspect is making technology accessible, otherwise it takes away this autonomy.

At our Porto conference in May, Lieven will talk more about this at the DigitAble workshop , 'Driving human-centred digital transformation: From ambition to adoption.'

The project isn’t just for designed for professionals, it also aims to make a real difference for neurodivergent adults.

The project's tools help neurodivergent adults better understand costs, value and everyday transactions. During the project's recent piloting session, those who followed our training reported having a better perception of the cost and value of products and feeling more confident about making transactions.

The next step for the project is to build on the feedback from support professionals and trainees and refine both the training materials and digital tools to make them even more impactful.

The DIVERSITY-LIVED project finally started with the first partners meeting!

The project aims to transform care training by bringing the direct experience of people with disabilities into the education of care professionals.
By introducing disability simulators and immersive learning scenarios in the teaching methodology, DIVERSITY-LIVED will enable professionals to experience first-hand the challenges associated with mobility, vision and hearing impairments faced by people with disabilities.

Over the last 2 days, our Board has been hard at work in Brussels, talking about the future of EASPD and the next steps to achieve our new multi-annual strategy: EASPD in Action.

Their discussions focused on how we can better measure the impact of our work and bring even more value to our members who work every day to support people with disabilities.

Our Board looks forward to sharing the outcomes of these conversations with our General Assembly in Porto this May!

The PreBurn project has officially launched with its Kick-Off Meeting in Athens, Greece on 9–10 March!

PreBurn will provide professionals working with people with autism with the knowledge and tools to recognise, prevent and reduce the symptoms of burnout, an issue that significantly impacts staff wellbeing and the quality of support services.

To do this the project will identify key burnout risk factors and develop practical training resources that strengthen professionals’ mental well-being. PreBurn will also produce policy recommendations to help organisations address systemic causes of burnout, improve staff wellbeing and increase the quality of care for people with autism.
