As many of you open boxes today and tomorrow, here’s ours.

A box of pantos frames, attributed not to us but to Patou-Lamy (Morez, 1940s-50s), most likely prepared for shipment and/or returned from an unsuccessful delivery at the time.

We’ll be closed tomorrow (25.12) but open again on the 26th with regular hours, 10:30 to 18:30, see you then!

A SPECIAL DROP COMING TO THE STORE

To mark the 25th anniversary of the Japanese eyewear brand FACTORY900, manufactured by Aoyama Optical Co., Ltd. (Sabae, Japan), we’re very excited to announce the upcoming release of 20 archive pieces (across models and colourways) designed by Yoshinori Aoyama between 2000 and 2019. From the very start, Aoyama has operated outside conventional industry norms; their approach to volume, thickness and colour remains largely unmatched and in some cases, unexplained. The brand’s unique shapes and avant-garde designs have earned it a strong reputation within the eyewear industry.

When we first reached out about dead-stock pieces, we quickly learned this would be nearly impossible; they produce strictly on demand, maintaining virtually no excess inventory thanks to a family-run discipline, and simply common sense.

So instead of searching through old stock, we went back to the source. These archive models have been reproduced exclusively for us, made to order in Japan, and will be released in-store as optical frames on January 15.

WRAPPING UP AND CELEBRATING 2025!

It’s the season of wrapping (in every sense of the word) and opening the door to a new year filled with new ideas, frames, events… all of it. Here’s a short list of our resolutions / bucket list for 2026 amongst many others:

-the store won’t be giving another cent going to Spotify starting January 1st (bye bye to those 500,000 streams a year)

-hosting another talk on collecting with @‌bogbodiespress

-spending a weekend getaway in the forest with the team

-creating more events for everyone to gather at the shop

-introducing you to many more archives and designers from the last two decades (more on that soon…)

Thank you to our wonderful team and to all of you who walk through our doors and make the store what it is. We hope you’re taking some time with your loved ones in these last weeks of the year and we’ll be here for any last-minute gifts, adjustments, cleanups, or simply a coffee break in between end-of-year chaos.

→ Here’s our holiday opening hours!

25.12 - closed

That’s all for now. Here are some of our highlights from this year, moments that made us feel so proud to be surrounded by such an incredible community and team.

Here’s to more glasses, archives, friends, and everything in between.

Happy 2026 to all of you!

Here’s one of Bidules’ proudest coincidental selections.

Judith’s (1989, Oosterhout) original frame was a pearly white, octagonal Selecta frame, but she wanted a change. When she tried on this multidimensional acetate frame by Grosfilley (Oyonnax, France), everyone at Bidules agreed: it was a perfect fit.
The sporty, mask-like shape is a standout feature. The key factor, however, is the silver layered color, which gives the acetate frame a shiny, super reflective metallic effect.

We chatted for a bit, and she talked about her workshop in Asiat Park. Do you know what she does for a living? Because we sure didn’t. Metal.
If you’re looking for the mic, it’s on the floor.

A 1950s–1960s gem seeing the light of day again.

Made by Vito, a brand founded by mid-century artist, painter, and mould-breaking Parisian designer Victor Bitchatchi. Vito became known for its intricate shapes, smoky-toned materials, and impeccable craftsmanship.

Over the years, Bitchatchi evolved from making handmade pieces in small workshops, to opening a factory in a former windmill in Pantin. He built quite a legacy through his passion and mastery, ending up advising various big names in the optics industry and inspiring the generations to follow.

Come try this frame, or simply stop by for a coffee, anytime from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30 to 18:30.

Photo dump from our recent digging trip in Jura, France.

We stocked up on frames for spring/summer and found a good amount of components (hinges, rivets, screws, fronts, and temples) for our custom pieces. Between box hunts, we had a great chat with Patrice Pointet about traditional eyewear manufacturing techniques and the evolution of prototyping (see slides 4, 7, and 8).

We were also very happy to bring copies of ‘3000 DAYS OF ARCHIVES_’_ to in Morez and the Musée de la Plasturgie in Oyonnax - felt like a true homecoming.

Notre histoire

At Bidules, we bring back to life unique glasses from the past, glasses from yesterday or from decades ago. Actually, age does not matter. We offer solid, nicely designed spectacles that really stand out.

We track down old stocks and pairs of iconic makes and models. We travel the world following the traces of legendary frame designers and manufacturers. We obsessively search through cellars and attics, and we secretly enter closed-down factories to find quality glasses worth preserving for future generations.

We check, repair, adapt, transform and refresh the pairs we find in order to bring you perfect new olds.
