🌬️ Epidemiology, ventilation, and outcomes of acute respiratory failure in immunocompromised patients

👉 ARF is the leading cause of ICU admission in immunocompromised patients — but what really drives outcomes?

Based on a large international cohort (almost 10,000 patients, 103 ICUs, 26 countries):

⚡ Infection is the main cause of ARF
⚡ Mortality remains high (~47%)

⚡ Diagnostic uncertainty is frequent — and harmful

💡 Key messages from the presentation:
- Early ICU admission matters
- Identifying the cause of ARF is crucial
- High-flow nasal oxygen may improve outcomes
