PEERS series of MoM events are up and running!

The 2nd and 3rd unique hands-on Meeting of Minds (MoM) workshops will be held on the 20th November and on the 9th December 2024 respectively, showcasing innovative aspects, including how to use the All-in-one Knowledge Dashboard of the interactive PEERS ecosystem platform and separately, the PEERS Virtual Reality technology.

Launched on November 1st, 2022, PEERS ( www.peers-project.eu ) aims to advance and reinforce the European Union’s operational safety and security policies through the development of a practitioner-driven ecosystem in the remit of the pre-normative / standardisation space with supporting tools, produced through co-creation. Our focus is on CBRN-E. In this manner at beta stage, an enabling all-in-one integrated knowledge hub ecosystem platform has been produced through the co-creation process.

Drivers of the ecosystem are our European CBRN-E practitioners, policymaking as well as other stakeholders, which include the research community and national standardisation bodies. Each MoM event should be of interest to the respective experts, which will be virtually hosted by the University of Galway (UoG) and both will commence at 10:15 am CET, running for 1.15 hours.

The outline agenda for the Knowledge Dashboard MoM event is attached.

Registration for both the 2nd and 3rd MoM event is available here ..

Post-NO-FEAR:

Building on from work undertaken in NO-FEAR, much solid interest is shown in the all-in-one integrated knowledge hub ecosystem in the PEERS project ( www.peers-project.eu ) that our NO-FEAR partner, TFC Research & Innovation Limited worked on with the University of Galway (http://universityofgalway.ie).

Drivers are practitioners, as well as and bodies.

One of the projects that is advancing the work in NO-FEAR is the Horizon Europe PEERS project.

In this manner at beta stage, an enabling all-in-one integrated Knowledge Hub ecosystem has been produced. The drivers of the ecosystem are our European CBRN-E practitioners, policymaking as well as other stakeholders, which include the research community and standardisation bodies.

It is possible to get involved through the PEERS Co-Creation Group. Join us here .. https://lnkd.in/eAMbeHJE , if you have not already e-registered.

Once registered, members will be given access to the PEERS Knowledge Hub and in the process help in the aim to support the transformational change of the European CBRN-E environment. As part of our undertaking, ‘Making PEERS work with you’ Meeting of Minds (MoM) virtual series has been established for participant interaction and enjoyment.

It is now my pleasure to invite you to the initial hybrid workshop!

Held on the 25th Oct 2024, the focus is on the social networking pillar of the PEERS Knowledge Hub. Hosted by the University of Galway (Ireland), the dedicated workshop will commence at 10:15 am CET and will run for 1.15 hours.

Dr. Lukasz Porwol (UoG), will demonstrate some of the key components of the social network pillar, but not only that, a hands-on approach with the participants will be firmly integrated into the MoM workshop proceedings. This approach enables valued experience to be obtained on the use and application of the Knowledge Hub. Know-how transfer on how to create an Avatar, to join or set up your own group and how to interact with other members of the PEERS Co-Creation Group will also be explained to the active Hub participants.

Participating members of the PEERS Co-Creation Group will also be given access to the early beta PEERS Knowledge Hub in advance. For this to happen, it is imperative to register your participation for the MoM workshop at the following link .. .. https://lnkd.in/eN-fwkst .

It is also important that you are a member of the Group in order to be granted access to the beta ecosystem Knowledge Hub .. https://lnkd.in/eAMbeHJE .

Furthermore, 2 other hands-on MoM workshops will be held (i.e., on the 20th Nov. 24 and 9th Dec. 2024), to showcase more innovative aspects of the Knowledge Hub. This includes the PEERS Knowledge Dashboard and the Virtual Reality technology (attached).

I hope you can join our MoM workshops!

Feel free to forward the details to colleagues who may be interested in joining the PEERS Co-Creation Group and our workshops.

The project is aimed at delivering a cost-effective solution to help build a citizen-centric culture for disaster preparedness and response applying in the process a multi-actor approach to help demonstrate the innovative fresh-thinking is this ever important space.

B-PREPARED will build on a freely accessible sizeable collaborative knowledge base and data hub to demonstrate its usefulness through three demonstrator applications i.e., a cooperative multiplayer virtual reality serious game, a simulated real disaster scenario for the safest near-real experience and separately, an interactive gamified mobile app with age-appropriate content and enhanced accessibility to people with specific functional needs for the widest possible reach.

The project also applies a Learning Management System (LMS) to effectively and comparably measure the preparedness levels achieved by individual users (via virtual reality or mobile) on a unified scale.

Through the application of B-PREPARED, players can take different roles to solve puzzle tasks in an immersive experience. Teamplay, collaboration and communication are key, strengthening too, the culture of mutual assistance and cooperation in danger. A large-scale virtual reality hackathon series will also be applied to demonstrate B-PREPARED features.

B-PREPARED commenced in October 2023 and runs for 36-months. It brings together a pan-European consortium (see picture attached), collectively representing a multi-disciplinary team of experts, who will collaborative to fullfil project citize-centric needs and expectations.

The project is led by Szataki (Hungary) and including NO-No-Fear Project, partner TFC Research and Innovation Limited (Ireland), the project also involves both YellowMap and University of the Bundeswehr Munich (Germany) as well as Szekely Family (Hungary) amongst others.

TFC Research & Innovation Limited () was a partner in the European research NO-FEAR project, in charge of standardisation.

The method that we applied in the determination of the needs and gaps was to assess the recommendations resulting from a series of webinars that were held in the project, which centred primarily on situations affecting Emergency Medical Services, such as mass casualties. These webinars were held regularly during COVID. Once the analysis was conducted, we contacted CEN TC391 directly and involved convenyors at our meetings.

The outcome of our analysis was further assessed by CEN TC391 and the conclusion was drawn that there was a need to advance effort in the area of standards that addresses 'Security Management Guidelines for Use of PPE within Healthcare Facilities'. Following, CEN/CENELEC standardisation protocol, CEN TC391 WG1 convenyor is driving the development of the new standard with TFC Research & Innovation Limited in support.

Note that the Call for experts to assist with the drating of the standard will be issued in Q1, 2024.

Much more community engagement will also be activiated in 2024 through the PEERS Co-creation Group. You are welcome to join the growing community via https://tinyurl.com/peers-request . This would be of interest to , professionals, particularly involved in , and preparedness and space.

Fragmentation and Standards:

Pressing issues on particularly for the sector and some of the possible solutions is addressed in a blog at http://ow.ly/mCGu50OtoRU.

Fragmentation and the real imposing cost to the community has never been fully understood and perhaps, not properly considered. We have to be extra careful. Effective checks need to put in place, because our witness of woodland fires, floods and destruction may in the future be deemed as the 'norm' by the layman. Better Practice Guides and standards can help the situation.

Fragmentation in standards and the so-called pre-nominative standards, which also are not factual, can have a real damaging impact to first responder situations.

Collectively, first responders and those involved in emergency medical services can be helped through the Better Practice Guides and Standardisation. They are one way to better support them in a crisis management situation. The blog raised some of the ongoing issues, but the challenges remain.

partner, , is active in the area of standardisation. They were pleased to address some of the issues surrounding fragmentation at a recent internal Europol event as well as in conferences involving related European projects. Much follow up work is also ongoing in this area through the peers-project-eu. is forging ahead in this area to help bring about change for the better, given the right support.

Additionally, details on a Call for Experts is due to be announced with regards to the development of the safety and security management of PPEs. This emerged from the project, which recently concluded.
