The Mysore room is a special place.

Every morning, people enter quietly, roll out their mat, and begin their practice.

Different bodies. Different journeys.
Yet something shared fills the room.

Our practice is not about achieving something. It is about returning.

Returning to the breath.
Returning to the body.
Returning to a quiet place within ourselves.

This process unfolds slowly… through patience, repetition, and simply showing up.

And over time something beautiful begins to appear.

When a group of people gathers with the same intention, a certain space emerges.

A space that grounds us in the present moment and reminds us that we are not alone on the path.

Our presence supports one another in ways that often remain unspoken,
expanding moments of joy and softening the weight of more difficult days.

Here we practice individually, yet something deeper is shared.

That is the quiet beauty of the Mysore room.

You are always welcome to join us in the Shala on the mat. ✨

First time in Belgium 🇧🇪
David Garrigues
June 19–22

About 15 years ago I remember watching the Asana Kitchen videos with fascination, studying all the details David Garrigues shared about the practice.

This June we will be welcoming David Garrigues to Ashtanga Mysore Gent for the very first time, for 4 days of Mysore practice. 🤗

🗓 June 19–22
Four days to practice together, ask questions, refine details and reconnect with the depth of the method.

David has dedicated decades to the study and teaching of Ashtanga Yoga, and practicing with a teacher of his depth and experience is a rare opportunity to gain new insight and inspiration in your practice.

Last year I finally had the chance to study with him twice in person, which makes it even more special to now welcome him to our shala.

He is also one of Stacy’s teachers, so it feels very meaningful to host him here.

If you have the chance to join, don’t miss it.

Places are limited and registrations are already filling up! Check the website for details and secure your spot.

✨ This is the portion of the practice we’ll be exploring in the FUNdamentals Workshop this Sunday and it’s designed to meet you where you are.

🧘‍♀️ In this workshop we go a little deeper into the foundations of the Ashtanga Primary Series , including the seated postures, breath, bandhas and balance. We break down the mechanics, refine technique, and support you with modifications so you can understand the building blocks of the practice with clarity and confidence, whether you’re just starting or you’ve been practicing for years.

✨Program for Sunday 15/02:
🧘‍♂️ 8am-9am: Short Form Ashtanga (guided class)
📿 9am-9.30am: Satsang & community talk (continuing our exploration of the Niyamas)
💫 10am-12am: FUNdamentals Workshop

There’s still space! Head to the website for more info and to sign up 👉 https://www.ashtangamysoregent.com/ashtangafundamentals (or click the link in bio).

Can’t wait to practice together! ☺️

Lieve helden van de winterse ochtenden,

Gelukkig nieuwjaar ✨

Liefs,
Sophie

Where the breath goes, the mind follows. 🌬️

✨Vasana: our tendencies, habits, desires.
✨Prana: the breath, the living energy of practice.

The Hatha Yoga Pradipika reminds us that mind and breath are united.
Where there is breath, the mind follows. Where the mind moves, prana flows.

In steady breath, the mind steadies.
In wandering breath, the mind moves.

This is why we return again and again
to ujjayi, to vinyasa, to the simple act of breathing on the mat. 🧘‍♀️

Not to control the mind, but to regulate the breath and let stillness arise on its own. 🙏
