This month’s focus in Jivamukti is about ‘Abundance’

In yoga, abundance is not about having more. It’s about recognizing that nothing is missing. This is the essence of what we call Aparigraha no-grasping or clinching to something.

We move through life constantly labeling things, good/ bad, enough / not enough, easy / difficult and from there, the mind begins to hold, to cling, to accumulate.

One of the yoga sutras says:
‘’things are not fixed; they become what the mind perceives’’

When we stop labeling and defining, we begin to experience things as they are open, fluid, and full of potential. From this, the non-grasping arises naturally. We no longer cling as tightly, because nothing is experienced as lacking.

True abundance is not about how much we collect, but about how fully we are able to experience what is already here.

Lately live has been a fertile ground of creation and seeing potential. Not saying that it is easy or difficult (trying not to label it✌️)

It is also a practice of the mind - needing to receive a gentle reminder so now and then🫶

We move through life constantly labeling things, good/ bad, enough / not enough, easy / difficult and from there, the mind begins to hold, to cling, to accumulate.

One of the yoga sutras says:

So what if space isn’t perceived as emptiness, but potential?
In yoga, this space is Garbha - the fertile ground of all creation.

When we stop labeling and defining, we begin to experience things as they are open, fluid, and full.
From this, the non-grasping arises naturally. We no longer cling as tightly, because nothing is experienced as lacking.

First few weeks back, slowly finding joy in the little routines again. There’s something surprisingly comforting about falling into familiarities.

Why do we as humans love our routines so much?

In the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, Patañjali speaks of ‘abhyāsa’;

A steady, devoted practice over time.
A continuous effort to remain rooted in awareness.

It is not about intensity.
Not about perfection.
It is about returning.
Returning is the practice.

Routine becomes more than habit.
Each time we come back to the mat, the breath, the body, we are practicing steadiness (sthira).
We are choosing presence over distraction.

Predictability soothes the nervous system, yes
but on a deeper level, rhythm settles the mind.

Yoga teaches that the fluctuations of the mind settle through consistent practice.
And slowly, in that steadiness, we come closer to our center, our heart.

So each day l’ve been moving into my little routines: roll out my mat, move, stolen coffee moments, cycle through my favorite streets again, class prep, work, breath, repeat.

Not rigid.
Not boring.
Just the quiet devotion of returning.

And maybe that’s why rhythm feels so good because every return is a coming home 🫶

ln the coming months we’re bringing JOY Studio to
We’ll have a soft start in February, in March we’ll be adding some extra classes to the schedule🤸

I’ve always loved walking the entrepreneurial path with my best friends. Somehow they create a safe space, an honest mirror and a critical voice when needed. They also happen to be incredibly talented teachers — in life and on the mat.

So, Charlie and I would like to invite you to our last pop-up location before we move into a permanent space in a couple of months, our biggest project so far. (Sint-Amandsberg, we’re coming for you, for real🫶)

Find us on Mondays and Tuesdays as we take over Eat This; from Wednesday to Saturday you can enjoy some fine wine and dining over here 🍴

JOY Studio remains a home for our wonderful community — a place to move with intention, to pause with presence and to connect with yourself and with others. Preferably with a big smile on your face, although I must say Charlie makes the better jokes!😅

Come join us on the mat 🙏

January 2026 – A flying start with my ‘Amba yāluwō’, aka Mango Friends 🥭🥭🥭

In Sri Lanka, a mango friend refers to someone who is
loyal, generous, easy to connect with and sweet-natured, welcoming to strangers, just like a mango: sweet and colorful🌈

Sri Lanka is famous for its mangoes and in many villages mango trees grow in front of houses or along roads. People often offer mangoes to guests, neighbors, or even strangers passing by.

Because of this, mangoes have become an informal symbol of hospitality and friendliness.
A sweet reminder of an amazing start of 2026

Apart from all the beautiful colors (50 shades of greens🍀), compared to the seasonal grey of Belgium at the moment (not killing my vibe though), I’ll remember that “going out” in your 30ties actually means “working out.”😅😂

Great for your health, they say ❤️

2026, the year that started with having my framily all together in Sri Lanka. Something we manifested last year when my amba jaluwe (best friend) and I were on tour 🫶

One year later: Two yoga & creativity retreats at Villa Noumi, a full house of togetherness and quality time with my godchild, Nilou.
Personally, a dream that came true and this is yet only the beginning of 2026👯‍♀️

If you asked me what I loved the most, it’s those mornings waking up with little buddha Nilou and finding the time to work out all together: Early morning surf or swim, everyday (reformer) Pilates, HIIT, yoga, ice baths, all while having the kids run around or even participate. It takes a village, they say, but we are that village ‘on the move’🌈

Healthy bodies & minds truly is life and being able to share those moments and practices with the people you love is pure pure JOY.

So apart from wishing you all good health this year, I wish for all of you some magical movement moments in 2026 not only physically but also for the heart.
Looking forward to being part of that journey 🤸🥰

And just like that, another week for the books , smaller group, tighter connections and room for the framily to come and say hi 🙏

This week felt like we brought the community overseas on location, joining, experiencing and participating in our retreat flow👯‍♀️

Beyond grateful, there was a lot of laughter, new experiences, some hot & cold plunging while getting tribal, playing as kids on our mats & in the sea.

Live talks over Sri Lankan curries became a thing and lots of letting go (not only in meditation practice) while doing ‘you do you or you do glue?’ ❤️

Retreat out, community continues always 🙏🤸

Best part l get to do this with 17 ladies & my best friends & .artbycaro

November so far, a dance on and off the mat, literally. Went day-dancing, movement for the entire body and heart. Days filled with cooking hot stuff, my body in need of heat… you feeling me? 🔥

A podcast recorded at Inside the Circle with amazing guests and cheeks that hurt from smiling throughout the whole conversation. A live breathwork and music session guided by the most talented friends. I even got to be their roadie for the day👯‍♀️

Gotta admit, I, too, have caught this hiking microbe, waking up early to see those northern lights and enjoying the little things, always.

Our focus of the month within my yoga tradition is called “rooted strength.”

When a seed germinates, the first thing it does is not send up shoots but send down roots. This movement toward the center of the Earth reminds us that, in nature, stability precedes expansion. The young sprout seeks the Earth’s core, anchoring itself before it ever reaches for light. In a similar way, Patañjali tells us that (spiritual) progress depends on practice that is firmly grounded — like a tree, rooted deeply before it reaches toward the blue sky.

Feeling such resonance with this one, rooting these days in slowing down to feel grounded & stability; not shooting up toward the blue sky, not yet, but almost☺️
