- Upgrading Akasha -
As you might or might not know, for a while it's been unclear whether or not Akasha was going to be able to continue, as we bumped into great obstacles. Running the center is an amazingly enriching, yet bumpy, road.
Today, however, we are delighted to share that we will continue! There blew a fresh wind of inspiration, love and motivation for a new and bigger center – Akasha 2.0. The vision includes solutions to previous obstacles and it just feels like the way to go.
We went in conversation with the count of Hex, who is the owner of the property. We received lots of support in the past and share complementary visions. Also now he was open for our suggestions. In November we will start a period of renovations. Eventually the entire school building in front of the monastery will be renovated and be at our service. It might take a year, perhaps 2. From there we’ll continue with adjusted work structures and another manager, yet to be found. However, Sophie, Floris and I (Surya Maarten) will continue to carry this torch.
From November on we will continue with partially a new and partially the old familiar program. However, our offer of retreats and events in 2026 will be more limited and take place on quiet moments in between the renovations. Karma yogis (volunteers) will not be able to stay long-term within this period, and we will not rent out the place. After all renovations are completed, we’ll move to a full program with full-time residence again. When this will be exactly is unknown for now.
It’s amazing how Akasha feels like a living being that actually communicates and arranges its will. All people involved in Akasha - participants, visitors, supporters, karma yogis, teachers and collaborators - are a part of this being, and so are all subtle forces. I feel the old monastic place is still strongly guided by the Christian forces. Christ, Maria and the angels are running the show, although through us they mostly sing Sanskrit mantras and improvisational songs. Paths are many, Truth is One, as goes the Hindu saying. We’re listening, trying our best to receive guidance, and continue to step into guardianship as this is requested.
A big thank you to all of you that showed support and love for Akasha. A big thank you to all of you who nurtures the vision of loving community and truthful spiritual connection. This is carried by many. We walk in the footsteps of the devotees and awakened beings of the past and continue to grow this spiritual lighthouse for the benefit of all.
