With a truly international membership, the BCT is a great place to make friends for you and your children. BCT is Belgium’s leading source of pregnancy and parenting information in English. We have provided prenatal and postnatal support to (expectant) parents since 1978. We are member based. We are the largest International family community in Belgium with members from over 70 countries. This is the official BCT page. BCT is an entirely volunteer-run non-profit organization that provides help, support, and friendship to expectant parents and families in Belgium. Our services cover pregnancy information and prenatal courses facilitated by certified antenatal teachers and peer-to-peer postnatal support. We also organize year round events and activities where our members can socialize, share ideas and concerns, and make friends. Our courses, services, and events are an invaluable resource for English speaking families and parents-to-be, in the greater Brussels area. We also provide continued support throughout their wonderful journey of parenthood. We have a dedicated team of volunteers who are all members and parents themselves. They are hosting playgroups most days of the week at our beautiful Clubhouse in Ixelles. They are also organising regular meet-ups and play dates in various local neighbourhoods in Brussels and beyond. They are providing information, peer-to-peer support such as our babywearing service, cloth nappy information or sling library, and encouragement by phone and email, as well as they organise our free Members’ library with about hundred selected books on pregnancy, child development and parenting plus a range of children books.

Getting ready for Sing & Play @ The Clubhouse

This playgroup has such a long history in our community, and still it is one of our members' favourites. Call it play, call it singing, call it sound making, call it early childhood music education - whatever you choose it's A LOT OF FUN for parents and children.

✨ THE TRUTH ABOUT MATERNITY LEAVE NO ONE TALKS ABOUT

❤️ It’s not a vacation.
People think maternity leave is “pahinga.”
But in reality, it’s sleepless nights, leaking breasts, healing stitches, and a tiny human who needs you every minute.

😢 You’re recovering AND learning to be a mom at the same time.
Your body is healing from birth—whether normal or C-section—while your mind is adjusting to a new life filled with responsibility, fear, and love.

🤯 The emotional load is heavy.
Mom guilt. Exhaustion. Overwhelm.
And sometimes, the pressure to “bounce back” while you’re still figuring out how to simply breathe.

🤱 It’s the most demanding job you’ll ever have.
Feeding every 2–3 hours.

"As a breastfeeding counsellor, many mums ask me about weaning and how to stop breastfeeding. Key to my support would always be to help them make decisions that they feel were the right decisions for them when looking back at a later date. I sometimes meet mums who have felt some regret about their decision to stop breastfeeding, and some have told me that they feel like they have lost a superpower. Others felt like it was totally the right decision for them and their family situation and helped them to maintain their relationship and their sanity!"

Cute mini trees using patterned paper, wooden sticks, and small wood slices. Just cut the paper into graduating sizes, fold for dimension, slide them onto the stick, and glue the base. These little trees make a charming holiday centerpiece.

This is why we create so many opportunities for new parents to meet others, be it at playgroups, in our local groups, family events, information talks, workshops, night outs, and also online in our WhatsApp community with dedicated chats for instant exchange between new parents. BCT has been that village for ten thousands of new parents here in Belgium 💚

There's a lot of information that expectant parents get and have to process when preparing for the arrival of a baby. In our Birth & Parenting courses we are keeping it real, relevant and encouraging, we are working with different media, we include group work, discussions and practical exercises, we provide follow up information and resources, and we make sure there's always room for some fun, because we want participants to feel at ease with the course and in the group - and in our community.

Here at the BCT we're taking the term family membership literally.
We make sure that once parents go back to work, they still can have their children enjoy our playgroups and activities accompanied by the babysitter, nanny, or even the grandparents if they're in town. That's what we call family friendly;-)
