W E L C O M E I E B E 💙

Iebe joins the Waves team as our receptionist and medical secretary, bringing with her more than 8 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse. Through her work in mental health care, she developed a deep understanding of people, well-being, and the importance of feeling truly seen and supported.

At Waves, she’ll be the friendly face welcoming you at the front desk. With her medical background and warm personality, Iebe makes sure every client feels comfortable and heard from the moment they walk through the door.

Outside of work, movement is a big part of her life. You’ll often find her in the water or on her bike, enjoying the outdoors whenever she can. She’s also a proud mum to her 5-year-old daughter Floor, loves making candles and is always dreaming about her next travel adventure.

She finds her energy in nature, family moments and discovering new places. 🌿

As much as we love the idea of working out outside, enjoying the fresh air and daylight, we all know how unpredictable Belgian weather can be. And let's be honest, safety-wise it's probably better to stick to the indoors too.

Our new gym is finally here! 🌳

We are so proud to introduce our newest initiative…

Why stay inside when the city is full of opportunities? Fresh air, new faces and you'd be surprised what you can use as gym equipment right on the street. A traffic cone for balance work, a parking sign for wall balls, a city bike for cardio. No limitations to our new gym!

L E T ' S B O X N E U R O 🥊 ✨

Wednesday April 8th marks the start of our next Let's Sport Neuro series: Let's Box Neuro!

Boxing is far more than a physical workout. It challenges your coordination, balance, strength, endurance and cognitive function all at once. Making it an exceptionally beneficial sport for people with a neurological condition, with proven positive effects on both physical and mental performance in daily life.

In these sessions, we focus specifically on people with a neurological condition who are looking for an engaging and dynamic way to stay active. Over the course of 13 weeks, you'll learn the basic punching and defence techniques of boxing, fully adapted to your own level, abilities and needs. Every session is accessible to everyone, regardless of experience or condition.

The Let's Box Neuro sessions take place every Wednesday from 4–5 PM, starting April 8th, under the guidance of Valerie. Valerie is a physiotherapist at Waves specialised in neurological conditions, and a key member of our Clinical Gym team.

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month!

Katina has written a deeply personal and inspiring blog to mark World Endometriosis Month and we couldn't be more proud of her for sharing it.

In it, she opens up about her own journey with endometriosis: from painful periods as a young teenager, to surgery, pelvic floor physiotherapy, and ultimately a finding an active relatively pain-free life. Her story is one of early intervention, open conversations, and the right support at the right time.

Most powerfully, she reflects on how movement, strength and Pilates played a key role in her healing and how that experience shaped her passion for women's health.

Running is one of the most common fitness goals we hear about at Waves Leuven, and for good reason — it’s accessible, effective, and empowering. However, it’s also one of many causes of musculoskeletal injuries, often due to poor preparation and biomechanics. That’s why we created a programme designed to help you transition to running safely and sustainably.

As Charles puts it: ’By combining strength training with walking and running, you improve dynamic stability during your run. This helps prevent pain, injuries and frustration.’

Walk to Run is led by our physiotherapist & PT Charles, with expert support from the Waves Gym team 🔥

H E A L T H U P D A T E — Welcome Naomi! 😍

Naomi grew up in Leuven, where her love for movement started early on. From gymnastics and handball to classical ballet, contemporary, modern and pointe truly captured her heart.

She studied Physiotherapy & Rehabilitation Sciences at KU Leuven and currently works as a practice assistant within the lumbar spine department at KU Leuven. This March she also begins her Comprehensive Pilates training with Polestar Pilates, a conscientious next step in her journey within movement and rehabilitation.

What drives her? Curiosity about the human body and a deep belief that people should play an active role in their recovery. Naomi loves empowering clients, connecting with them on a personal level, and helping them see the bigger picture of their health.

Outside the studio, she’s a true busy bee 🐝
Surf coach in summer, mountain lover year-round, dancer, runner, creative soul with her Kodak camera, and a big fan of 70s & 80s classics. And yes… she’s absolutely a cat person. 🐾

Naomi joins Waves in March and will be available on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

Then our Semi-Private sessions might be exactly what you’re looking for.

You train with 1 (Gym or Pilates) instructor alongside 2 other clients, while following your own individual programme. This means focused supervision, tailored coaching, and a supportive small-group setting — without losing the personal approach.

It’s an ideal way to receive more individual attention and work with a programme designed specifically for your body and goals, while still enjoying the dynamics of training together. Naturally the cost for these sessions is lower than the cost of our regular 1-1 sessions 💙
