SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND - AN EGGSAXPERATING STORY!
As I sit here this afternoon putting the final touches on my wellbeing at work workshop for next week around "feeding your brain", I'm reminded about the benefits to the brain and our neurotransmitters of the humble egg, and being World Egg Day, I thought I'd share a little story that might make you chuckle.

Last year on World Egg Day, I got myself into a whole heap of trouble at a UK Airport for travelling with eggs! Who knew they should have been in the 1litre clear plastic liquids bag! I had 4 of them🥚 by the way!

There was a stand-off as I protested that my eggs were actually hardboiled so technically did not need to be in the clear plastic bag.
So, there we were at a crucial moment! To break or not to break! .............

I was allowed to take back possession of my entire prized clutch after some manual manipulation to ascertain the "hardboiledness" of said eggs.

Now you may be wondering, why on earth would you be travelling with eggs?
Well quite simply they are the best, most nutritious breakfast, lunch or snack you can pack, especially given that the food sold on airlines these days is dreadful, and if like me you need something gluten free then it's necessary to BYO, because your options are usually limited to a bag of crisps or a chocolate bar - nothing healthful - always such a disappointment!

So this weekend if you are planning a brunch give some thought to including an egg based dish there are so many amazing recipes our there to tempt the taste buds; my favourite is my friend's chilli fried eggs!

HELLO OCTOBER

This time last year I was tucked away on holiday still. However, this year I’ve kicked off the month in full flow with my Spa Sister Carly Chamberlain - Wellness writer & educator at Spa Life International Ireland doing a live podcast on unleashing your team champions. Wonderful to be with so many spa professionals in one space, to catch up with friends, and to have the opportunity to be staying on a few more days to do some spa team training and development.

As always, I’m always curious as to what awareness days are being highlighted this month, and for October we have many things related to women’s health – menopause, breast cancer, osteoporosis…

But there will also be two important dates for me:

🌐 World Mental Health Day on the 10th - according to the UK charity Mind 1 in 6 people report experiencing a common mental health problem (like anxiety and depression) in any given week. Poignant because I’ll be delivering a wellbeing at work workshop on the 17th called “Feed Your Brain” highlighting how important a healthy diet is for our mental wellbeing and performance.

🌐And World Food Day on the 16th – with this year’s theme being “Right to foods for a better life and a better future”. Over 2.8 billion people in the world are unable to afford a healthy diet; a sobering fact. So, I want to dive into the topics related to “What Can You Do” https://www.fao.org/world-food-day/take-action/what-can-you-do/en and see how I can use my professional knowledge as a nutritional therapist to contribute in some way.

As the annual global celebrations for World Wellness Weekend come to a close, today sees the start of the International Week of Happiness at Work, a movement that World Wellness Weekend also supports.

Therefore, I was delighted to be invited by Fennande van der Meulen and Maartje Jansen to deliver a webinar this morning on "Finding Your Way to Wellbeing".

It was great to learn that the participants really found taking some out from work for themselves a positive and worthwhile experience.

HELLO SEPTEMBER 🌍✨ A month to embrace health awareness, global wellness, and unity! ✨🌍

🌍 Looking at the list of awareness days/weeks for September shows that this month is a great reminder for us of the power of care, connection, community and unity.

It’s a time to come together for causes that touch us all.
From raising awareness for various types of cancers — blood, gynaecological, childhood, male, and lymphoma — to heart health and advocating for the mental health of our youth, we're reminded how vital our physical and mental wellbeing is.

And it's not just about health; it's about happiness, peace and our environment too! World Wellness Weekend and World Cleanup Day inspire us to take care of ourselves and our planet. World Peace Day calls for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences. The International Week of Happiness at Work encourages us to cultivate a positive work culture and consider how we can make being happy at work the norm.

Each of these days or weeks comes back to one core value: caring for each other and our planet in an effort to create a healthier, happier, safer world. 💚

Whether by supporting cancer research, talking openly about mental health, fostering happiness at work, or cleaning up our communities, we all have a role to play.

Let’s honour these days by showing up for ourselves and each other.
Let’s foster environments where happiness, health, and peace can thrive. 🌿💪
Let's use this month as a chance to reflect, take action, and come together in kindness, empathy, and purpose. 💪✨
