Yoga Touch Therapies is a collective name for the blend of various ancient healing methods as yoga, yoga touch massage, energy work, meditation, singing bowls and ayurveda.
The focus of the therapy is to find out what has caused the problem so it can be treated from the root. Another important part is to prevent the problem from coming back by learning how to take care of our mind, physical- and energetic body by ourselves.
Yoga Touch Therapies is inspired by the work of Rahul Bharti, a well respected therapist, teacher and social worker with a huge heart! Most of the methods that Yoga Touch Therapies uses are taught by Rahul Bharti who learnt them from various tribes around the world.
Some information about the methods that are used:
* Yoga - ancient stretches
The root of yoga started 2600 years ago with ancient stretches by Dr. Jivaka Kumar Baccha, the doctor of the Buddha and his sanga. The exercises were developed to help the students of the Buddha to stretch and strengthen their body so they had less or no pain by sitting and listening for hours.
* Yoga Touch massage - ancient massage
For the people who were not able to do yoga stretches themselves, Dr. Jivaka Kumar Baccha created a yoga sequence in the form of a massage. The massage consists of stretches and pressure points.
Ancient massage legend Rahul Bharti has done research to find the original sequence that was created by Dr. Jivaka Kumar Baccha. From the sequence that is thought as the closest of Dr. Jivaka’s ancient massage, Rahul Bharti created a flow in the transitions from movement to movement which makes that the massage looks as a beautiful, meditative dance.
At the same time short therapeutic pieces out of the massage sequence can be used for various physical problems.
The first name of the massage was called ‘Yoga for disabled people’, followed by ‘Yoga for lazy people’, ‘Ancient massage’, ‘Nuad Penn Bo-rarn’ (which means ‘Ancient massage’ in Pali language), ‘Traditional Thai massage’ and ‘Thai Yoga massage’. And my name for the massage is ‘Yoga touch massage’.
* Ancient Healing - energy work
Self healing exercises are for balancing the male and female energy in our body and unblock energy that is not flowing properly in the body. It is part of taking care of yourself, taking the responsibility for your own health.
However, sometimes in the beginning we need some help / guidance from someone else to become conscious and make a start. This can be done with an energetic Ancient healing massage.
Ancient healing is the grandparent of reiki and comes from the Shamans who are living in the forest. It is an energetic massage with laying hands on the body and sometimes with speech therapy.
*Meditation
Grounding and no mind exercises help to find balance between our body, mind and energy. The separation of these three elements bring us a total relaxation were healing can find place.
* Singing bowls
Originally singing bowls were used as bagging bowls by Tibetan monks. That the bowls are a healing tool for our energetic system was found out by coincidence. The sound of the singing bowl creates a vibration that can release blocked energy and a deep relaxation is experienced.
* Ayurveda - science of life
Ayurveda means ‘science of life’, which is explained by the 5 elements theory. The 5 elements are earth, water, fire, air and ether. It has an ancient comprehensive, holistic healing approach with the use of various herbal (oil) massages, cleansing methods, lifestyle and diet, use of herbal medicines and yoga to balance the mind, physical- and energetic body.
Nurse, therapist and teacher
My name is Melissa and I am grateful that I have the opportunity to bring my love and passion for working with people in my job as a nurse and as a therapist and yoga touch massage teacher.
Working as a nurse in various facets of the health care with young, old, physical and mental disabled human beings has taught me the Western way to health management. This experience I blend with the information I gained at my studies in yoga, ancient massage, psychosomatic therapy and ayurveda, which have a more Eastern approach.
Providing treatments to everybody who is in need gives me a great joy. My dream is to live in a self sustainable community that provides free services for humanity.
In the meantime nursing and teaching yoga touch massage / therapies is my occupation which I do with lots of enthusiasm.
I see my role as a nurse, therapist and teacher to encourage people, share my own experience and providing a structure.
Further I am the organizer of the Europe / world tour with the teacher Rahul Bharti for his courses about Ancient massage and energy work. Since 2017 we travel his yearly tours together and I am grateful to assist at the courses.
Next to this I am happy to be involved in the organisation of the practice days for the Dutch group, called Ancient Healing Practitioners, that has been created after the courses of Rahul Bharti in the Netherlands.
